That's exactly it, I like that bit of variation, but on my terms if that makes sense? I find I use contrast paints a lot in my paintjobs nowadays, but I think their biggest downside is the minging finish. So I've got in the habit of these mid paintjob varnishes.

I was wondering why you do the matte varnish to bring the finishes together in the middle of the process but then not again at the end. Don't you have different finishes now again? Or do you like the more satin highlights? Cheers! PS: Looking forward to more LotR!
