Update 06/25/19

Hey ya'll,

How we all doin'? Been about a week since the DMC4 video has been posted. The response has been universally positive so far, to the point where it's still got like a 99% like ratio so far despite pushing 20k views which, given what YouTube is as a website, is absolutely mind blowing to me. I'm also really happy with the balance I found between the more light/jokey elements and the denser, more mechanical focused stuff in that video. Think I'll be trying to strike that vibe a bit more consistently in future where I can get away with it. I could rant about all of this for a while, but suffice to say, I'm very happy with how it's turned out and I'm also happy it seems to be resonating with so many people.

So what now?

Well, I'm nothing if not self-aware, so let's get to the immediate answers. I do not plan for the DMC5 video or P5 Part 5 to be next. This is for a couple reasons, most notably because of issues with my PS4's disc drive which will be remedied soon, but still would leave a sizable gap in scheduling if I went just with that. Plus, the length of P5 Part 5 script means it's gonna be like a fucking hour long which means it will be the longest thing I've ever made and I'm just not ready to tackle something that big quite yet, god help me. Lastly, I'd just sort of like to take some time to talk about some things that I'm super passionate about which I haven't seriously touched on before. Gotta keep things diverse, ya know?

As such, the current next two episodes planned are going to be a pair defense videos for two of my favorite things that I feel don't get the love they deserve: The last two episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

P5 and DMC5 will come some time after that. I also have a couple other short scripts lying around that I may drop somewhere in the midst of all of this as well as a certain ambitious collab that's slowly coming together, but we'll see how things play out. That said, I 100% expect them to be out by the end of September at the latest.

I am also aimming to have at least the overwhelming majority of the P5 series out by P5R. Will I be talking about P5R? Well, that depends on what P5R, but right now I'm guessing 'No'. Maybe they'll change more than I'm guessing, but I kinda doubt they will, or even can, do anything to address the main points I'm building to.

Additionally, I'm happy to announce that Me, Jade, and Foxcade are currently planning to start uploading The Perfect Parry Podcast on a regular schedule. As of this moment, the plan is to drop a new episode once every two weeks, specifically on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. There's no doubt in my mind that there will be some growing pains with this, as there are with any new commitment, but we're determined to make it work and, frankly, we all enjoy doing it anyways. Guess that means I need to strike 'podcast' from the list of pledge goals here though, huh?

On that note, at some point next month I will be reworking the Patron a bit and bring it more up to speed with what I want it to be, the changes in my style of video creation, and what I feel comfortable providing. This will include changing some of the tiers, most notably removing the $1 tier and replacing it with a $2 tier. If you're currently getting something for your chosen tier though, don't worry: No matter what, I promise you'll be grandfathered into whatever new equivalent tier I make. My goal is to have anyone currently contributing be completely unaffected by these changes, but it also only feels fair to let you all know.

This will also mean adding and removing certain rewards. Some of them simply have not come together in the way I hoped they would and I shouldn't keep promoting them as such. The vlogs in particular are something I apologize for. I made that tier before I'd actually tried my hand at vlog style content and, frankly, I assumed it would be easier and less frustrating than I found it in reality. I don't think I'm generally very good without a script or a partner to bounce off of, and I sincerely disliked making them. That said, I'm not adverse to talking about the process of what went into each video and all that good shit so maybe a different kind of format would be a better call, like a Q&A or a private livestream/discord call. With that in mind, if there's anything that you, as a Patron, would like to see me provide, I am currently all ears. I want to be able to make this feel worthwhile for ya'll, so if there's other ways I could be making that happen, please let me know.

It's my hope to have 2 standard videos out next month, or at least 40 minutes worth of video not counting the podcast. We'll see how this bastard of an Eva script goes. Either way though, I am super excited to get back to it. It's been a long time since I've had this much excitement towards making stuff and I really think good things are in store. 15k subs is on the horizon and I don't know if I've ever felt this much momentum behind me for this channel. Looking forward to experiencing it with ya'll.

Love ya all,
Peace
