I do think this is a good idea though because this sound has been absent from much of the K-pop sphere tbh.
It's not my bag though, they've really ventured away from everything I liked about their debut so I don't know if i'll rush to check out any of their next comebacks unless they change musically.
I will say the quality is STILL high though and they still gave me a song I enjoyed!!

I do think they just give early 3rd gen instead of gfriend lol cause the music is too happy and bubbly and electronic to be gfriend but its close enough! And im happy to have some of this sound back! Tws’s new comeback title track and their other comeback before the last festival is closer to how I consider gfriend sound to be but boy group version lol

2025-04-22 00:01:49 +0000 UTCI dont think it's as much regurgitating GFRIEND as it is that both GFRIEND and UNIS are drawing heavily from JPOP as the source but they're doing it differently. UNIS being WAY more young/fresh/cute/bright/Major whereas GFRIEND was more of an ethereal/lyrical/slightly darker and sad/really played with all the wacky chords. But Im happy with them bringing this concept back.....it's a splash of water in the midst of all the vibey Y2K recently (and age appropriate)
