Everything is well executed but I think they're still being pushed for the cute sugar pop phase that just doesn't tickle me. I think in girl groups it lands better for me more often than not in comparison to boy groups unless you're Astro or A.C.E with their cute classics then yes!
It's the same reason why I wasn't in to NCT DREAM in their chewing gum days tbh, but then last year they had my favourite song of the year with unknown which showed some depth!
I do commend the vocals Jaehee was bringing through, Yushi too but I think I'm gonna check back with them in like a year or two once they settle into an identity that feels new to them and has their personalities in there cos atm it's a bit too there's no war in ba sing se for me.

this was the comeback where I finally REALLY tuned into nct wish and a bit surprisingly I really enjoyed the whole album :) Although I enjoy even nct dreams earlier very cutesy music so it does make sense now that you mention it! I love their energy, their music feels so uplifting and fresh - but I do wanna see the more rnb approach with their adlibs or maybe just being pushed forward in the mix more

It’s not my cup of tea either but there is definitely a market for this. It’s funny though that they worked so well in Korea that SM said nevermind the Japanese promotions lol

But listening to it I think I have the same issue with it as you have. I can hear that there are great vocals but the songs don’t hit me. There was a lot happening and the songs weren’t empty at all but it still feels a bit like it. Maybe if they would switch up between fast parts with slower parts (vocals and production) it would come out better?? (idk I am just thinking what would make it more appealing or something)

2025-04-15 12:39:20 +0000 UTCyeah i think their sound is just not for u and thats fine bc they do have a strong identity both music and concept wise to a point in japan theres a whole “wish style” thats trending rn, i didnt love this album its fine but nothing wow to me like i LOVEDDD the steady and japanese ones like u said i wish they had a whole slow rnb song that sounds like their DELICIOUS bridges bc they never really had one but the vocals will always carry with them! anyways i hope you still react to their recording behinds bc they r always worth it

2025-04-15 05:05:55 +0000 UTCI surprisingly enjoyed all of the songs to differing degrees. I do have some similar critiques to you, so I get what you are saying. I think the addiction I have to Jaehee's voice plays a part in me enjoying the songs so much lol.

Me personally, I’m glad they’re doing something age appropriate for the maknae’s and these songs hit for me. They have a lot of time to do a dark or sexy concept when they’re older, but they’re young now, it makes the most sense that this is their concept. They’ve also won slot of music shows for their songs as well, I think they’re Top 5 at least with awards so their concept and songs are definitely well received. They also have many other different concept songs on their Wishful Winter album, including darker sounding songs that you’d probably like if you ever get around to it in the future 👍 I hope you still do their vocal recordings since you seem to enjoy them.
