SEULGI Accidentally on Purpose Reaction
Added 2025-03-10 17:52:13 +0000 UTCIt's really hard to aritculate what I want from Seulgi but I think Praying is a great start. It's not purely about her just doing r&b but doing something that really works for her and is something only SHE can do.
And filming Yeji and Jennie after only highlighted more of what is missing for me with her.
In this case, when she does it, I'll know. Perhaps it's choreo that's really unique, exciting and innovative. It doesn't feel like she's utilisiling her talents in a way that's showcasing THE BEST of what she can do maybe?
I dunno but towards the end I was definitely more pulled in but the title track didn't do much for me.

Luvies who've been with them for years have already felt that the girls are defintely not being fully utilized nor given content and stages that shows the scope of their 10 years. Seulgi is such a sharp clean dancer and we barely get to see it let alone appreciate her more natural lower tones. This song was aiming for Britney but didn't fully take it there. It's like they started this but didn't commit. Honestly for this concept too, leaning more towards a 'Toxic' era would've made more sense. I defintely think the B-sides show more of her vocal ability and I appreciate the vibe of a lot of them but she definitely needs to have almost full creative control. Look what happens when she fights for what she believes in, we get songs like Praying. I know she's loyal to SM since it's her whole life but I do wonder what could happen if she had a different team behind her and Red Velvet. There's value is growing up and all these women bring a polish and seasoning that only comes with age and time. I wish SM didn't forsake RV for other groups especially when their Fandom and the industry believes in them SO MUCH.

She has this unique aesthetic and presence that sets her apart from basically everyone when her album teasers drop but for this album that x factor was only there for the visuals and completely got lost for the music itself. I'd love to see her try her hand in songwriting more tbh, it might be not great at first but at least it would be more "Seulgi"

From the snippet I already knew it was probably going to be the only song I would listen on repeat but yeah. I share a lot of your opinions on this whole project. It’s good, the production is good and I like what she did visually but I need her to do a real RnB ep so I can move on and appreciate everything else a bit more lol

HER TONE IS SO ADDICTINGGG. also rolling with my homies is so fucking unserious i love it so much LMFAOOO. praying, weakness, and RWMH have a decent amount of body and soul that reminds me of bsides from the 1st mini being anywhere from home, bad boy sad girl, and even dead man runnin, but are unfortunately paired with songs that can easily be replaced as the others don't really seem like her sound given the types of instruments they use. the other songs aside from the ones i mention before sound like they gave her bsides that was meant for feel my rhythm to cosmic era of red velvet. 28 reasons was so villainous in the aesthetic with some of the songs that i kinda realized this is a sort of... unserious villain moment, taming her a bit from the how dark the debut was (kinda like comparing the joker to a simple bank robber). i wish a&r focused on getting songs that would further develop her dark sound rather than shift the mood to a brighter sound (praying and weakness could easily pass as songs that could be paired with moodier songs). it's really giving wendy's shift from like water to wish you hell (not a good thing since the first body had so much soul and the second one lacks it with generic production). whatever center SM has RV under really needs to step it up cause they have the option to get the best of the best but really settle for not much

That took me out of enjoying the song and I was really disappointed in the choreo since I feel like seulgi hyped it? It's by Renan who did Whiplash so I guess I had high expectations. Outside of that Seulgi did say this is more of a chill vibes album so I guess that's really what she was going for. It's a CRIME that she fought for praying be included because it was the best song for me.

2025-03-10 21:48:18 +0000 UTCI heard the album, and went, oh this is not Micha’s cup of tea, but Baybeeeee when PRAYING came on, I ascended and I said oh, this is the one that he’ll love for sure 😂. It’s such a good song. Praying and Weakness is the lane I wished she’s stayed in more, it’s seems so much more her speed, and it seems to be the lane SHE wants to really be in, she sad that Praying and Weakness were HER favorites 😂. It seems like they pushed some things to maybe make the unit comeback with Irene fit, there are some elements from both visuals and what not that they seem to be slipping in to make them congruent. But I love her so much that I support her “wrongs” and her rights 😂😂🫶🏾🫶🏾 Also idk what’s going on but I can hear her growth vocally. Ever since SM Town and she hit those runs and belts effortlessly! I need more of THAT because I did not know she had that in her at all…no disrespect 😂

2025-03-10 19:44:38 +0000 UTCi loved the first album, especially the moodier songs like "los angeles" and "crown". this one sounds like a "typical SM album™" (deragatory). almost everyone under SM suits these songs and like you've mentioned in the description - i want more Seulgi. "better dayz" and "praying" are really nice tho and i love the mv and the whole aesthetic of this album (concept photos, physical design etc)

It seems like it was just put in for shock factor and sort of just throws off the entire chorus for me. Super little thing and I’ll probably get used to it after a few listens but it doesn’t do anything for the song
