GOT7 Album Review
Added 2025-01-23 03:52:10 +0000 UTCLike i say in the reaction, this was more a case of something is better than nothing for their fans.
Especially considering they are independent it's a lot of work and they did manage to execute it well but when I was listening it was purely as an outsider looking in. A part of wonders though why a short term contract can't be sorted to really fund something worthy of their status and talent? Than something that's just warm enough to be interesting but not assertive and leaving a mark in the industry.
I DO also feel like budget is not an excuse for having production that feels this dated or "young". They're grown, sexy and this feels under utilised. I'm now eager to listen to JB's album because I'm sure he did more of what I would've had in mind for the group.
Personal tastes aside I'm still amazed they got together, still have their original name and can still work together as a full unit!

Love this!! And yes Out the Door is quite a nice vibe. Driving vibes. Nice Melodie’s though it’s a bit repetitive at times

I'd never paid them much mind, but this album + their killing voice drew me in and I've been stuck in this hole since the release. Even bought the physical lmao. I can totally see where you're coming from with them keeping it safe. Would love to see more experimenting, for sure. For me, it's a solid album that did a good job of piquing my interest and having me explore more of their music (I think If You Do is going to be my top song on spotify wrapped oml.....)

As you said maybe I had big expectations too lol Jayb who made the song Darling. And if you heard jayb's songs that were made for the group, you will notice that they (the members) sound the best in his songs. He knows each member abilities. And he definitely considers the live performance, usually his songs for the group are the most popular in concerts. They sound much better live. As for the other songs in the album, it was songs that the members made for their own solos initially. And I love the song you mentioned ( Roses - Jaehyun) never heard it before honestly but I love it. You're absolutely right, now I can't help but wish for jayb to cover that song, its his style.

2025-01-24 19:56:48 +0000 UTCI think the tt would've been perfect...if there was a bridge LOL! It was just so short. My biggest complaint was the songs being too short on the album. But as a fan, I will say I am grateful for the album since we found out they might have only released a single and called it a day😭 I think time was the biggest problem they had with everyone's busy schedules and two members just coming back from the military and two leaving soon for it. I hope the next time they come back in 2/3 yrs it's with a solid album (even a mini) kinda like dye. Also, have you heard their songs angel, it's old but love jayb's vocals on there (especially the live version!), along with touch (a jus2 song)!

A lot of your critiques were the same as mine, as a long time stan of theirs since pre-debut, particularly for Python (even though the song is great, I blame Tiktok for the short song epidemic). Thankful that we got a comeback though! Also, was wondering if you ever heard Think About It by GOT7? Was a unit song by Jay B, Youngjae, and Mark but probably one of my fave GOT7 songs because it's R&B and the heavenly harmonies and BVs!

But if you weren't aware, all of the members contributed for one song on the album and the songs do sound a little like their solo songs in my opinion. AND idk if i'st just me but the album sounds a little unfinished. But I appriciate the effort from them! I also wish PYTHON had a bridge... It would be perfect. But it became sooo addictive after a few listens actually! They also just had a music show stage today :) Suprisingly (or not) they were even singing live! Thank you for your reaction <3 Always interested to hear your insights

2025-01-23 11:02:50 +0000 UTCJust to give some insight: They partnered with Kakao Entertainment this time so it seems like they can choose who to work with for each comeback. I also think, while all seven of them love the group, they do not want to be tied down by another (group) contract especially since they have all their individual/solo ones as well. Might also have smth to do with the trademarks, idk if they had to transfer them to their group contract company if they wanted to promote and I think that's what they wanna prevent. But who knows! They've also been saying this comeback was just an excuse for them to get together before the next members have to enlist and it really feels like it, they've been having so much fun and trying to give us fans as much content as possible (music shows, a concert, etc.) Musically it's not one of my favorite albums (you forgot to listen to Out The Door btw!) and I wish we got longer songs and BRIDGES. As an og got7 fan this comeback is everything to me as a music lover I am wanting a lot more though.
