I THINK it's time for me to react to an Xdinary Heroes concert so I can learn more about what Jungsu is doing vocally lol cos sometimes like that final moment, it sounded like he was supporting his voice and it had waaay more body, but that's not always the case.
He's such an interesting case. I think he likes the range he accesses from being in that heady mixed range but I do think it strips him of a lot of texture and tools like an even vibrato which would sound angelic as fuck with his voice.
Jooyeon CONTINUES to blow me away. That boys talent is second to none. We already know how much I love him but the dark horse here was Gaon. OH MY GOD. His tone, ease and dynamics in that moment??
You lot can't tell me nothing. Xdinary Heroes have my HEART.

Loooovee this and I fully agree with it all and yeah I think Jooyeon is starting to take better care of himself cos the stamina that comes with youth will start to fade and technique will have to come in.

So talented and total sweethearts as well! I agree with you, wish Gunil sang more, but I appreciate that it’s tough to do while drumming at the same time and it’s really authentic of them to arrange line distributions according to what they can actually pull off whilst singing live lol. Agree with you that Jungsu’s voice is really interesting and a puzzle at times. I love how piercing it can be at times and I keep remembering moments from your earliest reactions to them when you pointed out how he executed “freaking!” on freaking bad lol. I really think that almost Hair Metal shriek-y placement is his sweet spot. Idk how to explain it— it’s like shrill but in a good way. He has the ability to sound so clean and clear like a bell and it’s so unique in the right moments, but then it can sound way too sanitized to the extent of doing him a disservice at other times, especially in the context of rock as the genre. I see and relate to his perfectionistic tendencies though haha, He definitely hears and is hyper-aware of every imperfection in his execution (He has either perfect or relative pitch, which helped him to guide O.de to the right key) and you start to see how it causes him to shrink in on himself a bit and hold back, in contrast to Jooyeon who pours absolutely every ounce of himself into it. I would also love to hear him explore his vibrato a bit more. He doesn’t need to stick to it if he doesn’t like it, but perhaps he might find a more comfortable middle ground. And Jooyeon, my precious boy. Ughhh he’s so passionate and brilliant!! He gets so immersed in the emotions of what he’s singing, resulting in such a raw delivery that it blows my mind every time. Sometimes I think he’s a bit of an Icarus though, with a tendency to fly too close to the sun and wear himself out rather quickly. He’s a frail boy who gets sick often and doesn’t have a ton of stamina, but he will give zero fucks and exert himself to the absolute breaking point. They had 21 full concert days this year (aside from music festivals) and it really made me super aware of that. I think in their most recent one, Gunil even mentioned having a big fight with Jooyeon about taking better care of his voice. Hopefully he does, because those pipes are a national treasure fr 😭 I just love how pro-active and communicative they all are with each other in these recording sessions. And the willingness to hand over a part to another member if they think he would do it more justice is really great. My boyssss 😍🥹🥰 I love them!!!! Saw them live in July (NYC) and also 2 weeks ago on beyond live. Ugh they are amazing and keep getting better! I’m so thrilled to hear you’re interested in a concert. I’ll send you a dm on discord! 💕

Both their personalities and voices are great. I really like Gaon in this song as well. I was rewatching your reaction to their dingo video and you mentioned that they really show emotion and dynamics. They are not just singing to sing the song. I really agree. :)

2024-11-28 18:50:29 +0000 UTCahhh yayyy!!!! do I comment on nearly every Xdinary Heroes video…? yes ahaha but that’s because they give me so much to talk about! I totally agree with what you said about Jungsu’s voice, I think utilising vibrato would help him a lot. I also find Jooyeon significantly better at expressing emotions than Jungsu. However Jungsu seems to have a bit better stamina than Jooyeon because he rarely sounds hoarse or tired, maybe because of his headier mix (if thats the right term). I also love Gaon’s voice, I feel like he really complements the two main vocalists with his softer tone. What I loveee about Xdinary Heroes as well, is that their ‘rappers’ for the most part don’t really rap on their songs. Nothing annoys me more about (mainly 4th gen) boy groups is when they smush in an unnecessary rap because they need all the members to have lines, and because the ‘rappers’ can’t sing well enough. Like pleasee there doesn’t need to be a fast paced YG-esc rap on every song!! Thus is the beauty of having 4 strong vocalists. Like you said Gunil is a pretty good singer too and it sounds like he works a lot on demo versions of songs but drumming and singing simultaneously is quite hard tbf. I would love to see your reaction to their most recent concert (LIVE and FALL), if you can find it online! If you can’t, their only other concert that’s been uploaded is their ‘Overture’ concert from 2022 (which was also their first ever concert). Again thank you for the reaction!!!
