The assuredness, variety in vocal delivery and cohesiveness of the whole album yet every track still feels individual.
Everyone including me have found pure joy from hearing her belt more! Like she literally did everything in this album and her love for R&B makes me happy cos she sounds SOOO GOOD.
Something I'd like for her to work on for future albums would be letting her voice sit in the middle of the production more and to space out the production a little more.
Gagged me!! I stan!

2024-11-27 23:23:34 +0000 UTCI think what really elevates this album for me is her ability to fill up space in ways that don't feel arbitrary or unnecessary. The adlibs, the backgrounds, the runs, they all feel like they have a purpose. Strawberry Silhouette and I Feel Pretty are definitely my favorites here. I'm genuinely so glad that we got this from her because if you really think about it, she doesn't really get to showcase much of her vocals in RV's songs, which makes sense because if you have Wendy and Seulgi you're gonna use Wendy and Seulgi lol. But even though we don't hear all that much of her in some of RV's songs I feel like her darker tone really rounds out the groups sound and balances out voices like Seulgi or Joy. That kind of makes me even happier to see how she's been able to explore her vocal capabilities here and I feel like this project has really done something important for her as an artist.

Kinda makes sense tho cause you're bound to pick up some things when you're in a group with someone like Wendy (kinda sounded like her in the higher harmonies too). Gets me thinking how many idols don't ever truly get to showcase their potential because they never get the opportunity or their label has stuck them in just one role. The daughter really outdid Mother this time lol. The harmonies, the adlibs, the melodies, the production!!! Ughh!! I do have a love/hate relationship with her tone in some parts of her voice but it doesn't have a relevant part in the bigger scope of things and is easy to overlook when there's so much excellence to focus on. I'm glad that I watched this with you cause I would not have listened to this by myself. Edit: Oh and Start Line reminds me of Curtain Call!!

And by uncertainty, I just mean they're still in a phase of experimenting and trying to find their sound. However, I am absolutely in love with this first project from Irene. She gave me everything I wanted because SHE knew what she wanted to showcase about herself as an artist. It brings me so much joy just how self assured this album feels. This album is Irene.

2024-11-27 15:40:33 +0000 UTCNow that I've gathered my thoughts, everything you said really encapsulates my feelings. Really solid debut, I think a lot of people underestimate and overlook her. As a fan I'm so proud. You can tell how much work and effort she put in on these songs and I hope she can feel good about it. I saw somewhere this morning she thought like a flower could be better but in the end she felt it was /right/ for her and I couldn't agree more. Love a girl that knows herself and is willing to step outside her comfort zone and give it her all. Even the vocal director that coached her was saying how proud she is because she's seen how much improvement she's made and all the effort that went into this. I couldn't be happier. It really is up there with Kai's debut for me 😭

2024-11-27 14:13:34 +0000 UTCJust for some context kaching and i feel pretty were both (unreleased) songs for fans, kaching was for a special performance back in 2023 at her bday party and i feel pretty was the theme song for the photo exhibition “1 page of Irene” she did earlier this year. She ended up putting both in the album since fans liked them so much. Considering Irene had very few solo songs before this those two did the heavy work of sustaining us while waiting for her solo 😔✊

She said it was on the harder side but she still wanted to do it. She liked the song so much that she was debating for it to be the title track

The production was so rich and the vocals!!!! This felt alive and sincere, like, yes she is going to be alright, yes she is safe in her own arms. That’s a grown woman with 10 years in the industry under her belt and it shows. Excited to see the dance practice/ stage. Plus, apparently she has something planned for a couple other songs on the album (including Strawberry Silhouette so maybe a heel choreo!)

They shared a video of her dining with the creative director and A&R director (?) and the director shared that irene met them and said "so what i want to say is..." And then she started talking about what she wants for a whole hour during their first meeting 😂 She worked with performance director that has been working with them for so long and knows irene well, she even brought back a director that originally worked with RV but already moved to another center just to work with her. And there're probably soooo many things that we didn't know going on behind the scenes. Also promotion wise i think they're doing exponentially better than whatever the shit they're doing these past few years with red velvet, it shows that there was meticulous planning behind it, even for the small tiktok videos, and i personally think it's because of irene being so involved, she's such a power J, i just can feel her influence in it 10 years might seem like a long time to have a debut but if I look back to the irene in the past few years she's definitely more comfortable today compared to herself several years ago and i'm happy that she could debut at the time where she looks content with whatever going on in her life, this relax and happy irene is all i want....also hope those people who keep saying "maybe she doesn't want to do solo" "she lacks the will to do things" etc would shut up now after seeing how hard she prepared for her solo and how she enjoys performing too

2024-11-27 10:31:28 +0000 UTCThis was so unexpected of Irene...but a lovely surprise :) I think there was an assumption that this album would follow a similar theme to the IRENE & SEULGI subunit, given Irene's lower tone; but she really went all out. It was well worth the 10 year wait for her solo album. It really feels like she was very intentional with the song choices and emotion of this album. In the last couple of years SM has been lacking in their support for anything RV related, so here's hoping they actually give her proper promotion for her solo debut. Thank you for always giving honest feedback in your reactions...really love that you take the time to listen and engage with each song!

2024-11-27 09:36:16 +0000 UTCHaven't watched yet but giving a like for your notes alone 😂 did a first listen with my friends yesterday so i was listening from a tv speaker and i honestly worried if i couldn't focus, turned out i really did it the wrong way, should've listened to it by myself using my earphones because i started to pick up everything she gave us in the song, those layers, all the vocals and the small details in instrumental....i thought i wouldn't like anything from the album after that first listen, but now i'm gIad to say that I can't decide on my top 3 yet because i love everything so much... learned it the hard way that i would never be able to do a first listen around people
