Younha covers IU My sea

Yeahh she's vocalist for REAL.

I may check out an album of hers one day.

I can see why she's highly requested!

Enjoy

Younha covers IU My sea

just a warning if you end up doing a deep dive into her work: her two most recent albums (end theory and growth theory) are definitely her strongest, so if you start with them the rest of her discography might feel a bit underwhelming. she used to be heavily ballad centered with a few pop and rock songs sprinkled in here and there, but her 2 recent albums were genuine masterpieces! if you listen to them i definitely recommend delving into the albums following the tracklist instead of listening to the singles first. theyre SO unbelievably cohesive.

Fun fact, Younha debuted in Jan 2004 when she was only 15. She celebrated her 20th anniversary this year

All her reactions will be for Patreon anyway so i'll see what i can do! Thanks!

omg omg omg thank you so much there are good covers of My Sea but Younha making it her own is what My Sea needs. When you said 'f**king hell' I jumped for joy! IU shows it after but she cried during rehearsals... her Immortal Song cover of Twenty-five, Twenty-one is legendary but I don't think Immortal Songs is youtube safe...

I haven't reacted yet - Finally! omg I have been begging for years. I guarantee you've seen a million covers of her songs and she's the one who made 25,21 popular again. I made you a list before but honestly you won't like her Dingo b/c she focused on fanfave ballads and Younha is a live girlie and sings best at festivals and with her band. I'm Live is my rec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lWHOQc3JxU it has subs and Arirang doesn't over-edit vocals like Dingo... her tone is so unique and she's like Winter in that you'll hear her correct herself in real-time. There's also a song in this video she felt odd just standing still during, so she learned how to sign the lyrics.

I looove Younha! So happy to see you react to her! She has such a beautiful voice and she’s come so far. Even if I don’t like all her songs she always has a special place in my heart. So happy to see her second wave of success in the past 2 years. I’ve actually been curious about what you would think of her but like other comments thought her music would probably not be your taste. Her Killing Voice is an absolute treat to listen to and a good introduction to her songs as well if you’d be interested!

Ooooh interesting! Thanks

oh cool....younha. I really really really like her (her voice aside) bc she's just so cool, humble, nice and easy going. She struggled QUITE a bit early on and was rejected a lot from korean record companies bc she (surprise surprise korea) was deemed "not pretty enough" so she just decided to move to japan and had some success, some failures there (she became only the 2nd korean soloist after Boa to have a song in the Top 15 on the Oricon charts) but then she came back to korea and had Password 486 and the rest is history. Very cool voice and cool success story (side note.....you'll see artists in korea everywhere and songs everywhere that have the numbers 4-8-6..... it's the numbers of strokes it takes to write sa rang heh which means I love you)

I had recommended Younha once in a youtube live as an artist to check out. She has mostly pop rock and k-ballads in her repertoire so i was unsure if you would like her style. I love that she plays piano and guitar and writes a lot of her own music.

I haven't seen anything from Younha in years (which is probably my fault) but she still sounds exactly the same, in the best way possible! I definitely want to watch the full ep bc I know IU is a big fan of hers personally, so IU will probably be even more engaged than usual. I remember way back that Younha, IU, and Jonghyun were close in terms of they liked to talk music together---it seems they all had similar sensibilities when it came to songwriting especially. I really liked the arrangement for this cover but I almost wish she held the climax for like 2 more seconds...that's just me loving a long high note though lol.

Thanks for reacting to this! She’s one for my favorite soloists. I just love her voice and how she expresses her music . I don’t know if you watched the full Palette episode, but it was very heartwarming and the other songs they sung were very good too! She is very loved in Korea, but not too well known outside of Korea. She has a Dingo Killing Voice, if you’d like to check that out. If you do decide to check out an album, I recommend either her new Growth Theory Repackage, End Theory Repackage, or Supersonic.
