FLO AAA album
Added 2024-11-18 06:37:50 +0000 UTCMy favourite thing about listening to good western r&b is hearing the soul and emotion that is sooo familiar and so many kpop groups try to emulate but fail to execute!
With that being said, I would've LOVED for this album to subvert my expectations a little more but I do think it's great starting ground as a debut. The transitions are a LOVELY touch and they do manage to expand their sound in a way that makes sense but I don't think all 16 songs were needed. A condensed 10 or 12 would've made it stronger I think.
The biggest thing i've love for them to adapt is the less is more tactic. Though I LIVE for their harmonies, it can be heavy throughout the album and become repetitive in a way that underminds how excellent they are. Mariah Carey learnt early on that not every song needed whistle notes or belting and I think the same applies here with their harmonies but I think that'll come with time.
Overall they delivered a good album! The Destiny's Fulfilled references shine through out.

That said, the tracks that hit for me, HIT. I feel like the ones with the most live performance potential where they can rly mix things up with the arrangement and harmonies like bending my rules for eg. will stand the test of time. Solid debut effort. I look forward to more of them in the future 😁

I was also under the impression that FLO wasn't really it for you, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the notif for this hahah. 2024-11-18 12:48:45 +0000 UTCi totally get what you mean, SIXTEEN tracks of the same-ish formula can become overwhelming, and being completely honest, a little boring. It gets to a point where you can predict where the harmonies are coming in, and so it just loses its value entirely by like track 10. Also agree that the album should have been shorter, like imo some of these tracks couldve been saved for a future project.
