She's a stellar vocalist with star quality in her vocals and an open sensual full voice especially in her mid and lower range AND she can be sooo versatile with her delivery. She's absolutely a main vocal by 5th gen standards which means she probably wouldn't have been able to debut in the last couple years lol.
You can certainly hear some habits she's picked up from Winter but I think she's grow out of those when it comes to belting for sure.
Also love her personality and she looks amazing.
The whiplash dance practice is SO GOOD. Like how intricate and layered it is gagged me!! Their star quality and stage presence just keeps growing and growing! Easily one of their best.

This is a long time later but I wanted to randomly add that Karina has the most striking vocal fry and that's why it's used so much in the intros and outros of aespa's songs. I usually wouldn't love that part of a person's voice, but hers is so cutting that it's almost like a cricket or some animal, I don't know how to explain it but I love it LOL

Edit: the thing that really really stood out to me about her appearance on this program is how incredible her musicality is. She definitely could use some work on her belt technique but I love how she puts herself into her singing and her interpretation of the music

Also Lee Mujin has such a gorgeous voice and I wish his music reflected some of that versatility that he displays every episode - I’d love to be a fan!

Like you mentioned here at one point, I would love for their music to showcase their vocal capabilities, because although their music is generally great, I don’t think it really showcases what they are capable of. Karina’s got my fav vocal in the group and this solidified that for sure.

I mean, I knew she could do them cause she kind of has a low speaking voice but they were highlighted during her performance. I need her and Lee Mujin to do an official duet. They sounded really good together. He always sounds good with other people. He’s just that good. Thanks for the reaction. I knew I could count on you to check it out.

I mean, there is a reason why SM produces more successful soloists than most companies

2024-10-30 16:57:55 +0000 UTCThis is so interesting because imo i dont think shes too nasally up there, i think shes too chesty lol. im not sure if these two things can live together, but i think thats why her mid belts are so full. her problem with the upper belts is the lack of mixing, shes too chesty with very little head mix to help with ease up there. Not to mention the tension around the mouth you mentioned as well
