Lisa ft Rosalia - New Woman

I decided to put this on Patreon because I didn't really have much to say.

There was a LOOOOT of spamming to check it out but after watching it, I wasn't quite sure why?

It's okay but I think I prefer rockstar overall.

Also I meant Christine and the queens but clearly Marina and the diamonds was on my mind haha.

Enjoy

Lisa ft Rosalia - New Woman

Lisa is in beta testing right now. To you point, trying different styles to see what fits. Like sonically "Rockstar" to me was her cosplaying M.I.A. (whom I really dig*), but I'm a comparatively more convinced that this song is closer to her eventual sound. Interested to see what's next -- not even a Blink, but completely understand her magnetic appeal. *And Santigold, who I found is still putting out weird, cool music. So late!

I love this song which really surprised bc I never expected lisa to be the bp member with the best solo song, I literally don't like any of the other solos outside of this one

I agree New Woman is definitely my preferred release. There is just so much good music being released this year (western pop/r&b etc.) that it has just fallen into my mix instead of being stuck on repeat lol.

I always think this is such an interesting take because every artist doesn't need to be "emotional" in their music. New woman isn't even a "I'm a bad bitch" type of song. Are people not paying attention to the lyrics? It's clearly about her gaining confidence in her own choices as she is moving into a new era of her life. I also think people are still expecting Lisa to stick to a k-pop sound/style when it's obvious she is trying to move into the American pop realm and to do that she has to explore new sounds which was new woman. That's why so many of the kpop fans prefer rockstar it was like the transition song I believe because that although in english followed the same styling of blackpink music. The girl has 4 songs total, 2 under YG and 2 on her own, you have to give an artist time to figure out who they are especially after leaving such a strict system like kpop.

Loved the song so muchhh and especially rosalia’s parts!! Im obsessed with her already and when I heard she is on this song i went nuts! Compared to rockstar I definitely listen to new woman more! Its just chill and idk i love it!

Yessss literally put my thoughts into words. And I’ve thought this about Blackpink as a whole as well. I understand the so called “bad bitch” concept fits them well and they look great every time, but there’s not much substance.

I think what it is, I'd like something more vulnerable and honest from her. Everything still plays on the "I'm a bad bitch" vibe but lacking a range of emotions. I want something else

I think overall I was kind of disappointed with lisa's new songs. Maybe it's because I had high expectations but honestly her new releases didn't do anything special for me. it's not bad but definitely don't feel the need to listen to it again. she's such a talented person and i love her as a person so i'll keep looking out for future projects and i hope i'll end up liking something. thanks for the reaction!

I’m OBSESSED with this song ! Especially ngl the Spanish chorus that Rosalia sings, it’s just a bop in my mind. I personally prefer this over Rockstar. This honestly gives me so much hope for lisa’s future sound !!!

Totally agree that Lisa still doesn’t have a clear identity but this song made me super excited for what’s to come! Personally as someone who’s always wished the BP girls got better songs to flex their obvious talent and star quality, I thought this was musically the most interesting and well-produced solo track of any of them so far, and I loved that Lisa was doing way more vocally than her usual style of rap. Also the credits are just star studded. Getting THE Max Martin and Tove Lo(!!!) to produce/write was an incredible choice, I really ate up the dark dance pop vibes, and the MV is truly experimental and artistic imo.

I agree that I can’t wait for an album, mini or not, from her but I think everybody was so excited about this release because it’s indicative of how versatile she can and clearly wants to be as an artist. I’m enjoying her experimentation so far and think she’ll solidify her artistic identity sooner rather than later with how comfortable and happy she seems recently. Her persona doesn’t seem ‘gimmicky’ in any of her solo releases post-YG so far and that’s refreshing to see. She looks and sounds very much like a new woman, we love to see it 😛
