Personally, I'm far more into story content - but I'd also say that dude, you do what you need to keep yourself creatively-and-or-life fulfilled. One month to do what you like is really okay. It's far more important that you do what you like so that you're happy with what you do (so that you can do it sustainably) than whatever "the people" want.

The price difference between the tiers are relatively small. While I am aware that it adds up over the months, do you think it would be affordable to increase the tier for one month, see the extra images, and then go back to the "usual" level for the subsequent months? (Also, you are making a point on why should people who support more get access to more stuff, and the counterpoint is why not?)

As I said earlier: for me, Patreon is not a specific comic subscription; I use it to support you so you can do what you want and like to do, even if it's to take a month break to rest. After all, that's what results in the best of your work anyway, so it's really a win-win situation.

I have mixed feelings about the way you split this over the tiers, though. I am tier two with gritted teeth because I'm actually not really having the money. Most of the artists I follow use Patreon as a bit more of an anti-capitalist tool. Everyone pays what they can and people chipping in more do get more, but it's hardly ever in proportion to the money difference. Those who can, partly subsidy those who just don't have it. You being an artist who formerly put all of his artwork on deviantart makes it feel even stranger to know that a lot of people are not going to be able to see two thirds of the illustrations (if I got that correctly?). I do get it, it's common market logic and it's totally your call, but I wouldn't mind to just get higher res images than tier 1 or wips or something.
