I really enjoy your work, just finished Death Vigil 5-8 and I love the series, which is why I am in the $5 tier again. I like to read them all at once instead of the individual updates though. I wasn't aware of gamification of the payment model to get freebies. I actually support a few creators that encourage this, as they offer a release every few months at a premium price and encourage you to dial back support immediately for the periods in-between to receive updates for new releases. In any case, glad to be a supporter since finding Sunstone a few years back.

I didn’t know patreon could charge at the beginning or the end of the month… your content is worth the money, unfortunately sometimes life isn't easy… and I guess that’s why some people swipe from tier to tier depending on their finances or at least that has been my case the couple of times I changed my tier but it never was with the intention of “stealing content”. I thought you were going to charge twice a month but after reading some comments I think I understand the change.

As a starving artist myself, I totally agree with your post and all the above comments. I wish I could pay you 10x what I do now - you certainly deserve it! Pardon the crudeness... but there should be a special place in hell for cheaters like swipers: and they should get hung by their genitals over an open fire. The give us true fans a bad name. >:O

Content swipers are annoying... I know a lot of creators here who post "low rez" images throughout the month, then drop the "high rez" images on the first of the *next* month to ensure that they're getting two month's Patronage if you want the good stuff. I think your solution works just as well, and I'll keep it in mind that I need to save my pennies to keep seeing your most excellent works. :)

nothing really. it will simply change the charge from the last day in the month to the first one. beyond that content will be delivered as usual. the only reason i'm even posting about it is that i don't want people blindsided by that transitional month where at the end of october they will be charged for october and then start of november they will suddenly be charged for november. from there on out every month after the charges will be beginning of the month, but no other changes

patreon started that way for everyone afaik, and when the 'sign up, steal things, cancel' issue became endemic they added a pay up front option that pretty much everyone uses now

Have you thought about making a gumroad account to sell each chapter individually? I've been at your tier 1 (i think thats what i'm at?) for a few months now, and I love your art, but initially I had trouble figuring out where everything was and how to get it from patreon. if you slap up a gumroad i'd love to just pick up every chapter as it comes out and find some old stuff or non-nsfw stuff i probably never knew you did

Upfront charging just means you get charged when you join. So I’d you join on oct 29 you get charged for oct and then nov 1 charged for nov. it doesn’t affect currently subscribed people who don’t change their pledges.

You'll pay for the month of October at the end of the month, and then pay for November at the beginning of the month. So you'll pay the fee likely on back to back days.

It always seemed to me to be a loop-hole in the Patreon system that someone could do that and it surprised me a bit that it was possible. You will always find some people gaming/abusing the system if the system is open to it.

Ugh I hate when people do that... I changed my payment method so that if anyone increased their tier, and then went down, it would charge the highest amount they selected and the would have access to the correct tiers until the end of the month.
