I fucking love that he comes across 50000 authentic truly! His vocals and energy through out works. I KNEW I heard my people!!!!
His brand of r&b hits the spot for me and that rarely happens with me and male singers. I could see myself listening to him long term because he has so many nice nuanced moments that I keep re-singing.
The behind process is so interesting already.
I'm definitely gonna carry that on, I'm so proud of him. You can see how comfortable he is and how much work he put in.

I'm so glad to be able to listen to his first work because he didn't disappoint. As you mentioned, it comes as authentic, very natural to him, he's in his element and I love it love it love IT. Even if some songs may have threaded too close to safe, the way they come together as an album is very pleasing. NOT TO MENTIONNNN finally listening more to how he can work his voice, I'm obsessed with his tone and timbre since way back and I'm living for this. God I love this man, I already had so much respect for him and now it went far and beyond, this man is an ARTIST and I can't wait to see more of him, more of how he'll improve and craft something uniquely his in the kpop industry. I just fucking LOVE it when an artist knows their potential and have a vision. That's promising for his future projects. Smoke reminds me of how I felt when seeing Taemin debut with Danger, in that it feels like a strong statement of who they are as artists and firmly establishes their taste and influences. I know Jaehyun gagged you but did you notice the twins and Bada dancing with him? Smoke is a strong album opener and I wish this sound were explored more in the album a bit. I agree with you about tracks like Flamin' Hot Lemon, Dandelion, and Easy. They needed a bridge to break up the petition. Roses got it closer to right considering it's similarly repetitive but has enough variation to keep me interested. But I like them enough to catch a vibe. Also, none of these songs besides Completely and Can't Get You have bridges?!? Smoke kinda does because he sings the pre-chorus again, but he sings it with a different emphasis and it goes into the outro. The fact that the art form of bridges is dying in music for no good reason is so sad. Towards the end of Easy, I wished there were more classic R&B elements, and then Can't Get You played. It is so gorgeous. Also, THE Babyface participated. Like Jaehyun and Babyface make so much sense together! I'm looking forward to more from him for sure. I picked the right bias 🤗

We all hoped he wanted to do R&B but even when he would do solo songs in concerts/events, they were almost always guitar-focused, singer-songwriter type of songs. But I'm still waiting for the day he gives in and makes a R&B album.

Also as a side note, I love when you said you knew your sister-in-law would love Completely cause that's the same thing I do with music, I'm like omg ___ would love this, i have to show them! 🥰

'Smoke' was just wow. From the trumpets to the runs. 'Can't Get You' was such a vibe in my opinion. Like sir you have outdone yourself. This album brought creativity, great lyrics, the sense of fulfillment. and just something new and unique. Jaehyun looks like he really enjoyed creating such a great album and I'm so proud of him!!!

You can tell time and love was put into it and it somehow is the musical embodiment of Jaehyun as a person, it's actually crazy. I can't wait to see live performances and see how he carries himself as a soloist 😭 Can't get you, roses, and smoke are my faves atm

The smoke mv alone is enough to show how beautifully strange that man is. Usually idols and their companies care so much about the artist's image and making them seem as proper and presentable as possible, but it was honestly JARRING and incredibly to see Jaehyun be fucking weird in the mv...like wtf do you mean he was covered in some weird ass goo and throwing up????

It's still that bitch though. 9.5, inject it in my veins! • I really like Flaming Hot Lemon even though it was repetitive. It gave chill vibes and I just love the lower tones in the chorus. That's a 7.5 for me. • Completely was a beautiful song but I agree it needed variation. I'm not sure if it's a playlist song for me because I don't like the piano in there. Maybe acoustic guitar would have suited it better but that's very D.O.- esque lol. I'll give it a 6. • Dandelion grew on me from hearing the snippet to listening to the full thing. It's a groovy song that I'd need to be in the mood for. I agree solid 6.5. • Easy had a nice vibe and a likeable musical style. In this case the repetition wasn't it. 6 • Can't Get You is my shit! I didn't know I needed a jazzy Jaehyun vibe but here we are. I absolutely loved the production, instruments, vocals and background vocals. 9 solid Smoke - Solid title but it's definitely a grower. It's not bad but I think although the production is solid, musically I wasn't taken in right away. He sounds amazing though and I like the vocal choices made. Solid 8

I love the production in each and every song, his vocals like he was SINGING. And I totally agree with you too, he's one of the very few male artists I see myself listening to long term. Ughhhhhhh so so talented, 10/10 album for me! Top 3 has to be Roses, Can't get you and Completely though lol they're just tewwwww good
