What an impressive vocalist. Like she has warmth, depth of tone and power, imagine her in SM?? My god her vocals would've been truly appreciated. I feel like she's quite similar to Luna although I don't fully remember her tone but of all the SM vocalists she's probably most similar to her.
Also CL is a versatile SUPER STAR. I LOVE her raspy tone that comes in now and then she's easily the stand out performer for me. She's got a raw way of performing, one of a kind really.
Tbh the 4 of them bring something that really works. Dara I wasn't sold by for the majority of the time but she does have a nice warm tone which is a nice contrast.
I know we say Kiss of life are Sistar's daughters but I think 2NE1 are their mothers also. I still can't get over how STRONG their vocals are. They sing PROPERLY, not just thin soprano voices that are everywhere in kpop right now. I WISH they were releasing new music too man.
I'm gonna check out more of their performances where they sit and sing because that's when they shine. The EDM, euro trash upbeat songs are not for me at ALL lol.
Also I FINALLY figured out it was my Kwon twins!!

She’s been through more than anyone should. 😔 Two, Most of their slower songs were written by CL. She had a hand in producing as well which says a lot about her song writing and producing.

2024-08-04 10:47:49 +0000 UTCI think the EDM sound was just the thing that got 2ne1 on the map when they debut and even though they have a lot of different sounds, a lot of their early fame is in the EDM beats. I think they’re in the transitional era into more r&b sound in their tracks right before they disband. Bc despite so many hits and so popular during their prime they actually only got 2 albums before disbanded. They jsut have lot of singles within their albums topping the charts. Also they really pumping up more of the EDM beats during concerts mix to get the crowd hyped. I swear These songs are better in their original form. I think they def add more EDM during concerts mix for sure. Lol liek wtf was that rock edition of I don’t care LOOOL I love how fun the girls get to be during it but lol I didn’t really mesh as well as I would have liked. The mix for these concert tracks definitely mess up some of the rhythm of these songs

Watching Minzy as a middle schooler popping and dropping on the floor while on TV changed what I think Kpop performance can be. YG wasted her. She had every element to be at the top of her career. But they wasted her at her prime. She’s the best dancer and the most stable and strong vocal in the group. Bom is their main vocalist bc of her unique tone and she sings the most but she’s really not as stable dancing and singing as Minzy. And Minzy was the youngest too. CL and Minzy had all the right stuff to be female GD and Taeyang. 🥲 I will never ever forgive YG for wasting their talent. Each of them brings a unique sound. Dara might not be as strong of a vocalist but I still love her vocal in the group bc it gives a smooth sweetness that cut through three very strong and spicy/raspy voices. 2ne1 literally redefined what girl group meant to me as a middle schooler when they came out. Also love when ADULTS are on stage and can embrace their sexiness in their performances

It's not giving calculated and staged like most of 4th/5th gen. You went through most of their discography but I still recommend In the club, one of my favorite (not a club song it's r&b-ish)

2024-08-03 21:42:28 +0000 UTCThe upbeat EDM songs, slower ballads, and mid-tempos have always been the YG formula until Blackpink (I think Stay was their last slower song promoted alongside a title track). Even some of BIGBANG's most popular songs are ballads and slower songs. Not sure if TREASURE did this when they debuted. Also, there were a few double-time endings in the concert but you skipped them 🤭 and the versions of the songs with them were trimmed down or rearranged. The struggle of trying to figure out if it was the Kwon Twins or not akjahfajk They were with YG for a while. I think they left this year. They'll be 35 in November. Regarding the All or Nothing in Seoul concert, you can find some individual performances on YouTube, but overall there are few of them. The DVD was never released (people speculate that distribution was interrupted or shelved after Bom's "scandal"). Only the concert in Japan was released. I wish it was released because I saw some clips from that concert and they were on fire! Overall, this concert made me appreciate Bom's voice a lot more. She gets meme'd a lot these days for her style of singing but she ATE during this concert. Minzy was always so impressive to me and I wish YG valued her more. CL has so much energy on stage. And Dara holds her own just as well. Their slower songs are some of my favorites. And Gotta Be You is such a bop. I still listen to the Crush album on occasion. Side tangent: I hope with this reunion concert Dara finds her confidence again because she has always been insecure about her voice in the context of the group. The others are such strong vocalists that she felt overlooked. You mentioned her tone being nice, which is something Gummy, another former YG artist, pointed out to her. Earlier this year she did an English interview where she still seemed to second guess herself, but later in the year, she performed 2ne1 songs by herself, which is something she mentioned she could never carry on her own. But she did well enough. She also was not supposed to be in the group, but she was persistent and would show up to practice anyway. They didn't let her practice with the group until the last 3 days of their dance practice. Teddy asked her to come to the studio to record a few lines and they liked how she fit into the track. If ever there was a poster child for never giving up.

Minzy’s voice is one of my absolute favs and I seem to remember enjoying her mini album a lot, although that does not mean I think that you will 🤣 Their performance of If I Were You on Sketchbook is one of my fav performances ever tbh, I rewatch it often and not enough people have seen it! Even if it’s not to someone’s taste or outdated there is just no denying how good they are ‘at delivering their songs/performances!

2024-08-03 15:10:27 +0000 UTCi've always said 2ne1 are in their bag when it comes to ballads. Their upbeat songs are a hit or miss, very outdated but I guess it worked for that time. The one thing is that regardless of which company groups were from, there were real singers back in 2nd gen !! Minzy I feel is very underrated as a vocalist like ppl always compare her to hyoyeon when it comes to dancing but no one really talks about how strong her vocals are. I'm hoping we get new songs or maybe a killing voice, it would be a shame if it was just a concert but its YG so... Definitely check out some of their acoustic sessions they've posted and their sketchbook performances, they tend to perform most of their slow songs there.
