Things you’ve learnt from me

This is random but I’m curious what things you all pick up on now since watching reactions of me specifically loool

Comments

Ohh that's a big compliment wow! Introducing people to anything makes me really happy!! Yeah people who are mostly younger have biases and think their faves are infallible, which is something I outgrew and means I treat everyone as an equal cos they all shit too lol

Koko3op

Damn I didn’t mean for that to take a turn, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the sketchy sides of kpop. I’ll delete the comment if it brings the mood down 🙏

Amanda Persson

I’m sorry if this doesn’t count but you “teached” me kpop, I randomly clicked on one of your videos and that’s literally how I got into kpop. Through your videos I’ve discovered a new way to view music. This might just be my opinion but I find it kind of sad when people only praise the idols and not the producers (hence why my ults are Xdinary heroes and skz). Sure, the idols sing the song and good vocals makes a song better, but the core is the arrangement, lyrics, instrumentals and overall composition. Also the fact that people just can’t take accountability for their favs “mistakes” (in loss of a better word). If a song is good they praise the idol, but if it’s bad they blame the company, producers etc… This goes for basically everything in the industry though. I’d like to hear your opinion if you have time and energy :)

YAAAY

Koko3op

When listening to music, I focus more on melodies. But because of your reactions, I now listen closely for ad libs! So thank you :)

MZ

Hdhshdhshdhshs omg I love that

Koko3op

Anytime i'm singing on my own (not a singer at all) i'm like "I should relax (my shoulders)", or "oh wow my voice was more open". My boyfriend watching me from the other side "what is she talking about" O_o.

Iris Moreno

Ahhh thank you so much for such kind words!! I really appreciate it, it's really interesting and exciting to me to read what people pick up on and understand of me. In regards to your last paragraph it's a skill and muscle that I've definitely developed over time and find myself more and more comfortable in my skin and trusting my thoughts and beliefs. I always appreciate seeing your comments!

Koko3op

i'm already well-versed in vocals so it's always nice to come across another person who appreciates the nuances that i love/sometimes you pick up on things that i don't even notice which makes me appreciate a song even more! similarly, i can somehow get confused on how certain singers obtain a certain sound which you and your reactors do explain how it can be achieved/if it's even healthy to sound like that. however, one thing i now notice through your reactions is the chord progressions even more as i tend to have focused on vocals a lot more. another thing that is hard for me that you do incredibly well is find references or the sources of inspiration that newer releases can be tied to; if i like a certain sound, i can trace it back and can potentially find a new artist/song to enjoy just in general, i do like how critical and honest you are as you aren't afraid to tell something how it is; it's not just blind and dishonest praise for engagement towards everyone. even if i do not necessarily agree, there's a clarity on why you don't gravitate towards certain things. having an objective opinion and seeing through the BS is super hard to come by, along with having the vernacular to explain your feelings about a group/song/etc, like i feel as though we share similar opinions a lot of the time which is why i always tune in/support you both on YT and patreon ! <3

Jonathan

Omg no way!! Haha I looove that that's amazing

Koko3op

Definitely the importance of vocals in a song, I am a STAY and I love rap, but with your reactions, I've seen how good vocals can elevate a song to another level. I even started singing classes and every time the teacher teaches us a new technique, I can't stop thinking about you hahaha.

Rodríguez Lara Scarlin Selinet

Ohh no way!! Damn, I'll be looking back at those to see what I missed once I understand more that's crazy

Koko3op

HAHA YESSS!! Bass for the win!! Yes if a song is a good it's good!

Koko3op

Oooh thats beautiful and I really appreciate that! Being able to open people's minds is not something I take lightly! Love reading your comments already

Koko3op

Tension, posture, and overall body form isn't something I generally pick up on, so I appreciate it when you note it.

CM

I’m definitely paying closer attention to the production after watching your reactions. I appreciate that sometimes when you didn’t vibe with the song, but liked the production, you still acknowledged that the song is good. And the bass line!!! I am starting to notice and appreciate it more now hahaha

babybleu zzz

hahahaha oh yeah I die for AKMU. But let's be honest, kpop lyrics are kind of nonsense (even to korean people), they literally make no sense whatsoever and these days they definitely are more of a percussive instrument then actual words that have meaning. That or the groups are SO YOUNG now the lyrics are just about being on IG or tiktok which whatever. Yeah, in entertainment content for kpop acts i THINK (don't quote me) a LOT of the translations are just done by fans for free and mostly done by a korean person who learned english (vs the inverse which would be WAY more helpful to international fans). One of the absolute WORST examples was the HYBE Game Caterers......those subs were SO BAD it was physically painful

Edward Lee

Yesss I remember, you were on of the AKMU shooters lool. Tbh I'm glad to be learning Korean simply because hopefully in a years time these songs will be sooo different to me BUT even now I don't care for lyrics I DO understand in my current languages either loool so innately melodies and production will always be at my forefront. Some people are the complete opposite! But for variety stuff it's going to be great cos dialogue definitely gets more lost in translation.

Koko3op

I've definitely learned the difference between a dancer who happens to be a vocalist, and a vocalist who happens to be a dancer, and how the latter is better. Kind of like taerae from boys planet. No, he may not be the main dancer or in the "dance line" but damn he can sing. And I LOVE seeing people like that because at the end of the day is mainly the amazing vocals that give us chills when it comes to kpop. I've also learned that not everything about a group is perfect, and thats okay. I used to be SO sensitive about people calling out idols for not doing a certain thing, or sayings ways they could have done it better, but after watching you its really opened up my mind to more constructive criticism and how its not hate or dragging an idol down, its just opening up more ways for them to be better. Kind of like how when I'm watching you react to a song that I really like, but you dont like it as much, and instead give ways that it could've went, or a different note it could have gone to or a key change or whatever, and I end up agreeing with you (I hope that made sense lol). Anyways I love watching your reactions and seeing what you have to say, because you always end up catching on to things that even I missed when I first listen/watched it!

Shay

The reason why I continue to consume your content is because you aren't afraid to say when you dislike something (and we've kinda butted heads in the past over that) but that's something that's increasingly rare in this world so it's refreshing. You also genuinely LOVE things when you do love them and have very legit, well thought out, well felt reasons for it. Continue to do what you do! Im not going to say that you SHOULD do this or that, but I do feel a little bad when I see kpop content creators react to stuff (especially entertainment content), parts of me inside kind of scream a little because a LOT of the language stuff gets totally lost in translation either bc the subs are horrible or there just aren't comparable words/phrases/sentiments in english but not much you can do about that

Edward Lee

Hahah aww thank you. Yeah I do feel very blessed and have the best friends/guests. Yesss South is definitely on my list!!

Koko3op

I don't know if this is a part of learning... but I love it when you love something... your whole body shows it ... you go quiet... tilt your head a little... the eyes... then the hand goes up... a little squal/laughter. A joy to watch. Your honesty when reviewing a song or album... and I absolutely just love love love your relationship with your friends/guest... and your jetsetter lifestyle... if you ever leave a "I'm in South Africa anyone wanna hang out" I'll try my absolute best to be there. 😊😊

Samantha May

Love that!

Koko3op

i learned that i’m not the only one that pays attention to background vocals, adlibs, or harmonies. i don’t know nothing about music but i always listen out for that kind of stuff and a lot of reactors don’t mention or hear those types of things because they are either talking or are focused on visuals and surface vocals. so when i came across your channel and you pointed out those thing and more such as tone and technique it made me so happy to find a reactor that can watch a mv and tune in deeper at the same time😁while also giving an honest unbiased opinion

Trinity Martin

Very cool of you to offer but I'm not a native speaker and probably not content dynamite on camera in general, but I am all for that idea and I would a thousand percent show up to watch you nerd out with somebody about that sort of stuff if the opportunity presents itself.

J

Niceee! Yes the necks tell a full story fr

Koko3op

GIRL!! It's HELL looool

Koko3op

Ohhh I love this. Man I wish I did production in college, it would be SO FUN to reproduce some songs. Maybe I'll work on this in the future. Maybe we can co react to something and you can add more engineer/production feedback if you're up for it!

Koko3op

Ooooh nice!! Yeah vibrato is literally my favourite thing in singing so I ALWAYS catch it!

Koko3op

Haha no that makes sense. It's not that I'm having a hard time saying I like it cos I love admitting when I'm pleasantly surprised and when I find bits I enjoy in songs/groups I may not love many times but sometimes the little good moments aren't outweighing the overall delivery. This happened with Xdinary Heroes, BILLLIE, Dreamcatcher &TEAM and many more where I didn't WANT or expect to enjoy them but grew to love something in that. Now groups I HEAVILY dislike musically like TWS or vocally like Triple S will probably NEVER get a revisit from me.

Koko3op

Nice! Honestly I wish I had production skills so I could paint an even clearer picture of what I hear in my mind!

Koko3op

Wow that's amazing and tbh I was the same. I used to feel sensitive over my faves too years ago so I guess that's why I empathise with people who are still reactionary cos I know deep down they know what's being said lol.

Koko3op

Love this!!

Koko3op

Hahaha love this!!

Koko3op

YES you should!! And hahahah yeah I'm such a major chord girlie but when done well I do looove minor chords. Taeyeon - Wine being the perfect example.

Koko3op

I love THIS FOR YOU!! Yes everyone should be judged fairly even bigger groups!

Koko3op

During live performances/recording I pay more attention to singers necks, I listen closely for adlibs and harmonies,I’ve been picking up on wether someone has a thin or full voice plus the amount of flexibility their voice has

Sheepy Shawn🐑

I pay more attention to how groups convey their songs while performing without choreo. Seeing idols just sit there and stare blankly till it’s their turn to sing has actually become a pet peeve of mine lol.

Lea

I'm a musician and producer/engineer so I'm well-versed in a lot of technical and theoretical stuff behind music, but I never really work with vocals in my own stuff and have had little excuse to work with other vocalists so that's an area I'm not quite as up on. I've run across stuff in your videos where it's like "oh, there's a name for that" or where you mention some concept behind singing that I've never really explicitly thought of and considered even if it's something I might have intuited, so that sort of stuff is always interesting when it pops up.

J

I don't know if this counts or not lol, I don't remember if it has a name but I started noticing the very subtle vibrato that singers add like it's very subtle but it adds SO MUCH I don't think I used to notice it until I watched your videos and you'd point it out and now everytime I hear it I replay it a bunch of times LOL

Rayan

Strained singing. Especially when i watch those song recording videos

𓆩♡𓆪

Musical technicisms (if that's a word) mainly. I listen to a lot of music, I think we have similar tastes, and you put the fancy words on my thoughts. Which I thank you for lol Also, the other main thing are singing styles. That, I don't know nothing about, so any new information is very welcomed. If I were to give you a bit of positive criticism, I think when you already have a premade thought on a group or a song, it is very hard for them to win you over. Some examples that come to my head are Dash by Nmixx, and Mr Vampire and Untouchable by ITZY. You didn't like whatever they were going to release even before checking out (which I kinda agree as JYPE doesn't know what the fuck is doing lately). But while you were listening the songs I could see you liked some parts, but (always in my humble opinion) had a hard time admitting it. Sorry if I've missunderstood you, I hope you take my comments positively. I love your work and I hope you keep going at it!

C Baker M

I pay more attention to groups actually singing and harmonizing in songs and I can appreciate a song even if I dont like it, if I can see the effort and if they have a clean and fresh production. Before I could not recognize if the production was good or if the production was bad and had minimal effort.

venq

i’ve definitely learned to look at things more objectively. Admittedly a few years ago, when i was first introduced to your channel, I was one of those people who easily got my feelings hurt over things that were said. But overtime, i’ve learned to look at my faves objectively (in dance, vocals, production, etc), and sometimes even agree with what’s being said. Even if there are things said that I don’t agree with, i’m able to accept it and move on. that being said, i’ve just become more interested in vocal production, and learned a bit about vocal technique through you. i tend to apply it when listening to music or watching performances, etc

Dom

I've learnt a lot of musical terms from you and that helped me put a name on the things I like, for example harmonies and stacking. that made me focus on songs and made me notice the instruments more and the background adlibs, which I really appreciate since it makes songs more enjoyable!

sabrin

What major chords are and what makes chords interesting, strained and relaxed singing, good breathing techniques when singing, musical production in general (I'd never paid attention to that before), interesting singing (?), I.e. how some singers sing straight and others add nuances, just overall being more critical/aware of mediocre songs ahaha and the ways they can be improved

Zara

i definitely pay more attention to chord progressions now lol and actually figured out what a minor one is from how much you seem to dislike them LOL i think ive also become more open with my more negative opinions while watching your content because it helped me realize that if im disappointed in a release from one of my favs, i can and should voice it!!!

cali

This may sound weird. But I learnt that I don't have to like a song because a certain group released it. Their feels to be a lot of pressure to love every song an Idol puts out but you are very blunt and honest and I've started to pick that up, at least when it comes to music. Irl I am a pushover lol.
