Now, I wanted to check this out because a description of live rearranged songs and a full band and live vocals is EXACTLY what I enjoy and they definitely delivered in that aspect.
On the OTHER hand though, WHERE THE HELL was the energy man?! This is a perfect example of what I've had issues with in regards to other Kpop groups not knowing how to perform songs when there's no choreo involved.
There's sooooooooooooo much more they could've done here that would've felt more natural and planned out even with the lights and huge stage but it felt like they were being held at gunpoint at times?? There's a couple of songs I definitely LOVED rearranged, kudos to the band and Siyeon and Sua's vocals. Jiu also had some great money notes and Gahyeon has quite a powerful voice? I think it's possibly under utilised.
The crazy thing is I couldn't think of another girl group that would actually take advantage of this concept well and really perform even whilst seated/standing. Maybe Kiss of life in a few years?
I'd love for them to re-do this now they've grown some more and add a little bit of a sprinkle of performance in there. Just because there's no choreo doesn't mean you actually HAVE to sit completely still until it's your time to sing, damn!
Other than that this was actually a great recommendation according to things I look out for.

I think it was good for the type of stuff I enjoy musically but they just did it in a very boring way.

To be fair though, Dreamcatcher's best clips are from festivals, and I think you usually only react to the full concert productions, so it would be difficult to find a source video for you to react to

But if they ever come your way, I would 100000% recommend seeing them! The energy is crazy! π but donβt expect a live bandβ¦ the girls are still in a small company and canβt really afford it π©

2024-05-08 01:26:28 +0000 UTCDreamcatcher is one of my favorite groups! But I have to admit the Crossroads Concert is not my favorite of theirs. Part of it being that it was an online event, with no live audience and partly the slow start to the concert. As someone who has seen them live twice, I wouldn't say this is the best showcase of them as performers. Their tour concerts are VERY different and they truly do feed of the energy of the crowd. Their vocals are insane live and STABLE. Another commenter left what I think would be a closer representation of what they are like live but like they said, I totally get not wanting to go down another 2 plus hour adventure.

They seem to feed off of the crowds in their other concerts, so itβs probably very awkward for them in this setting. Itβs great that they tried something new during Covid times, and Iβm sure theyβd do it much better now, but they are definitely a stand up and jump around type group lol. Iβm positive they would rock any festival type stage, even without choreo.

2024-05-07 00:28:59 +0000 UTCWriting this before watching. One of the reasons why I love DC so much is because of the energy they bring, which I've always felt is reminiscent of boy group dynamics. So it's a shame that they weren't bringing it today. While they have grown in popularity over the years, I wish they had more opportunities in the industry (i.e. Immortal Songs, Killing Voice, performing on bigger stages). I think it would help them shine more. They have the talent, but despite being so far into their careers, they still perform alongside nugu groups sadly. And their chaos is unmatched!! A Got7 member actually mentioned them at their reunion, saying he finally came across a group that matched Got7 in energy AHAHA!!! That was a very proud moment for me. Anyways, if you'd like fansubbed links to their chaotic Idol Radio segments, let me know! They had three episodes with HongJoong and Yunho, and they were FLABBERGASTED (and a little embarrassed hehe) at how unhinged they were. It was hilarious!!! Finally, thanks for reaction! I always appreciate DC content :)

I 100% agree about there being a lack of energy (especially for a 2 hour concert) and I hadn't noticed how much it was lacking until I saw everything together. I would definitely love to see them attempt another version of this (with more movement involved) now that they've grown a bit more. I also think being able to have a crowd there would help them give more energy because everything I've seen from them with a crowd has been great.

2024-05-06 23:38:09 +0000 UTCAh also I forgot to mention this YES I feel like Gahyeon's voice is under utilized especially in their title tracks and also Handong has such a deep and beautiful tone to her voice that I feel doesn't get showcased enough they usually give her the very soft parts but I hope they can let us hear that unique and deep beautiful tone more because i feel like it's honestly really underrated but maybe I'm biased because she's my favorite haha And I SWEAR I felt the same way when I heard them sing Can't get you out of my mind here like why can't we get that on Spotify please?

2024-05-06 22:50:15 +0000 UTCI think to sell this sort of performance, you definitely good vocal arrangement/directing or really good singers. In performances, you sell it vocally and/or visually and if a group is limited visually (not doing choreo), I can see why a lot of groups would just look sort of awkward. With no choreo, things like body language, facial expressions and vocals have a spotlight on them and if you aren't able to deliver on some of the aspects, the performance definitely falls flat very quickly. I think vocally, out of the new gen groups NMIXX since they harmonise the most and also do the most note/melody changes out of all the new groups. But in terms of overall stage presence with the body language and facial expressions, I can definitely see KOL being able to do something like this. I think anything like standing in one place or sitting in one place the whole time, the whole setlist is a set up for all groups tbh, so I don't think any group could pull it off in that sense. But if a little more freedom of movement is added like being able to stand up, sit down or move across the stage, it'd be more manageable.

And yeah I'd say I would've loved more energy or more performance even without choreo from them during this, although it being online and without any fans probably had a part to play in that and I feel like a lot of their energy just comes out when they're standing and not having to stay seated or with a mic stand as you've seen a little bit of it in the final song that's usually what they do in concerts when there's no choreo and ofcourse interacting with the fans and running around stage taking fans phones that sorta stuff. I think you can definitely see how much they've grown and how different it is with fans since this because it's been 3 years, and it was also Handong's first time back from China you can actually see near the end a really sweet moment where each member sent her a message and then her parents did aswell and she started getting emotional and tearing up it was one of my favorite moments probably because of what you said that the concert didn't feel fully natural and then you get a moment like that near the end, but all in all I really enjoyed this concert and the difference in sound from these songs from what they sound like on the album and I'm happy to tell you that they've definitely gotten better and more natural and probably more crazy haha since this I'm glad you found some songs you really like from this. I really appreciate it and love hearing your thoughts on this!

Obviously don't expect you to check out another 2 hour concert but still good to glance at
