That's all I have to say really. Except this.
No. Thank god for Jungeun (I think that's how you spell her name I can't remember) but man, these mediocre vocals with above average performing made for a very underwhelming show. Whilst editing I realised it is a Wakeone/Black Label collab which is ... interesting.
There's such a range of what young girls can look and sound like (HELLO KATSEYE) yet the SAME aesthetic and demeanour is picked time and time again and I can't, it almost feels dystopian. This was not an exciting or inspiring watch. I may check out the very last episode though but I have no interest following the journey.

2025-08-10 07:30:30 +0000 UTCim actually surprised (and relieved) you didnt find mai's tone in drama annoyinggg. when i first watched that performance i was GAGGED by her opening with that rap–so i went to twitter and tiktok to find out what other people think just to see them hating her tone... i personally think this is still her best performance to date

I'm taking a break on survival programs after being let down so much. But I did enjoy the vocals in "Build Up", and I only watched it for Jay Chang. Other than that, the competition shows haven't been that great recently

It also suffers from the exact same setup as I-Land so there's nothing new to discover AND (my biggest gripe) the budget was obviously WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY cheaper compared to I-Land. It looks so cheap and so obviously just a set in a warehouse (don't even get me started on the egg). Even all the judges are blah and don't say anything constructive or eye-opening at all. One of the coolest parts of I-land was the actual sincere advice and training Rain gave. That being said, I've watched through worse so I'll prob stick with it. But I totally agree.....these girls can dance for sure. it's scary how well trained in dance at such a young age these trainees are nowadays and that skill seems directly the inverse of the singing skill on display

I already watched all the performance videos myself earlier and decided like you that I wasn't going to dedicate my time to follow the show. I'll check them out after the final group debuts. Agree with you that at this point of the 5th gen over-saturation, I don't see the point of making a group with the same aesthetics & type-of-talent that everyone already has. You need something unique at this point of the cycle, otherwise your group will just drown

2024-04-27 09:33:24 +0000 UTCsomething that annoyed me abt the casting, similarly to 'r u next' is that they already have a specific concept and only cast girls who would fit that because i'm sure there are plenty of talented girls who SINGGGG that applied but just don't fit the predetermined concept of the debut lineup. i truly hope jiyoon and jungeun make it into the lineup solely for vocal variety LOL

He barely has time for BlackPink and he thinks he can take on two new groups plus Somi whenever she has a comeback???? Plus idk if it’s just me but he seems to hover in familiar sound concept and black label gg and iland 2 gg with definitely debut around the same time, so I wonder how different he’ll make them sound wise. Feel like they will end up sounding very similar.
