SEVENTEEN - Seventeeth Heaven Album

This album definitely feels more obligatory than intentional for me which is not a bad thing. It's lighter and not overly adventurous which makes sense considering enlistment is coming soon!

I didn't particularly love any of the songs but tbh Face the sun is still going to be a hard one to beat and FML had it's moments so I'm ok with no loving this one.

Enjoy!

woozi said this album was more festival based so that hints to the last song being headliner ( for carats) us going to see them being the headliner and them coming and seeing us and being their headliner.. so for me it scratches a diff part of my brain

Ooooh I like your take. Tbh it's making me want to revisit it so I can feel about it the way you do! lool

This album just hit all the right buttons for me in comparison to FML. Especially in terms of vocals which I care about more than anything. I felt like in FML we forgot that we could SING sing, but this album really shows off some of svt's best vocals imo. Starting from the top, I really enjoyed SOS but I agree with your point about its production choices. I LOVE God of Music. Love me a good SVT feel-good song and they do it so well. Shua and Woozi's vocals??? Babes, I won't shut up about them. Diamond days is my least fav on the album for the same reasons you mention. I get why the members and some carats like it, since it sampled Shining Diamond, but for me, it didn't hit. Back2Back has surprisingly grown on me after I thought I wouldn't like it. The performance unit's vocals continue to impress me and I actually enjoyed the instrumental. It reminds me of Superhuman by NCT LMAO. Monster was ok for me. Repetitive? Yes. But it's exciting to get a SVT Halloween song haha. Yawn... wow. Vocal unit is forever my favorite and this song does not disappoint. That instrumental paired with the subtle vocals is just breathtaking. Headliner I feel is a perfect closer, especially with the music festival concept we have here. The harmonies, the vocals, the production... I just love almost everything about it. The static you mention for me helps to put this song into a live music setting which I feel is the goal. As far as mini-albums go, it's in my top three or so behind Your Choice and Heng:garae.

God of Music was filmed in Budapest, Hungary, and the cute little Disco MIC in Space is a real MIC. So so funny to think SEVENTEEN with the help of SentIntoSpace just went and threw and shot a MIC into Space. I love love every song on the album. Clever clever Woozi just took samples from Shining Diamond and chopped them up in Diamond Days. I am also happy we get a SEVENTEEN Halloween Song with Hip Hop Unit’s song Monster. Also Woozi had me smiling and tearing up at the same time with Yawn because he wrote Yawn with Seungkwan and with Moonbin in mind and sent Seungkwan Yawn when Seungkwan was on hiatus. Yawn is also a beautiful song dedicated to Moonbin. Headliner has become a special song to me since it is for CARATS, and now I am imagining SEVENTEEN making a Special Video for Headliner and then releasing it on either Christmas or on CARAT Day. Overall me personally love love the whole album. God of Music themed album filled with songs that had me smiling the whole time. For me SEVENTEENTH Heaven is another no skip album.

Thank you!!

This definitely felt like a filler album in their discography. Some good stuff, but nothing grabbed me.

always love watching your seventeen reactions!! they’re my ult group but i’ve never been someone to not criticize the things i love so i totally agree with you here. sos is my favorite and i find myself going back to it the most. it’s not a bad album but it’s nowhere near my fav mini from them (your choice i love you) for me.

Yeahh it's JARRING how things always get very edm-y and rocky, like stay grown and sexy PLEASE. I definitely would've enjoyed SOS more if it stayed like the intro.

Koko3op

SOS would've been my favourite track if only marshmello sticked to a genre, i loved the intro with vernon and joshua but then it turned very edm-y and then rock idk Definitely agree it feels like an obligatory album but at the same time they were hyping up this "festival" but none of the songs except god of music gave off that vibe like where's the key changes and high notes? Take me somewhere lol I was pretty let down with Yawn and Headliner, diamond days is probably my fav song. Back2Back feels like it would've been better if it was produced by someone from SM like it sounds like a messy nct's superhuman x shinee song. Dont think they'll top your choice mini album and face the sun full album for me but oh well.

I agree about the production on SOS, it didn’t quite hit that way I wanted, but I’m not exactly sure why. I vacillate on Marshmello productions anyway though. Tbh I loved the vocals on that song though so I will be returning to it lol. I think DK really leaned into a more rock tone and I Loved hearing him sound like that — would love a more rocky song with wonwoo tbh I liked this album! Not as much as Face the sun, but comparably to FML. I loved the vocals on it. I think my ranking would probably be: 1. God Of Music 2. Diamond days 3. Yawn 4. SOS 5. Monster 6. Headliner 7. Back2back In Back2Back’s defense, really impressed with the vocals, especially for the8. I’m interested in what they’re gonna do performance wise for it as that can make a song for me too.
