Ooh, great observation on the Chinese difference. Chinese pop songs & ballads, at least traditionally, do have a specific style that's perhaps carried forward from the fact that Chinese is a tonal language

For the duet with Mujin I'd love to do either I'm in Paris by Dvwn or Sorry by Shin Yong Jae & Won Joo (the D.O song and my last choice are VERY ambitious of me 😂).

2023-09-03 01:06:08 +0000 UTCA bit random but I'm curious, if you went on Lee Mujin Service what songs would you choose to best showcase your vocals and what song would you choose to do as a duet with Mujin? I think about this all the time (even though I'm not a great singer) whenever I watch the show or listen to my favorite songs. I also wonder what made each artist choose the songs they sing on here because sometimes their choices surprise me lol especially when they are vastly different than the music they put out.

2023-08-31 01:26:00 +0000 UTCI know absolutely nothing about vocal technique, but I swear I've noticed that back of the throat / yawn sound in a lot of chinese idols (Jun, WayV Kun, I used to watch all the chinese survival shows and it was common in *a lot* of trainees, and I'm catching up on your patreon uploads and it's the first comment you also made about Chenle in the Broken Melodies recording). I've had a personal theory for years that it's either a result of a Chinese approach to vocal training some of these idols might have undergone in youth, or something to do with vowel pronunciation in mandarin that they sometimes carry over in singing. It's not an absolute rule, we can see our Chinese vocalists from ZB1 don't do it as much, and the stronger vocalists out of those I mentioned adjust their technique to suit the sound they want etc but I swear I feel a trend! I might be talking out of my ass lol but when you brought it up you were putting words to something I've always thought about lol.

I know Dino has been taking vocal lessons, he's mentioned them a few times, so I could definitely see him wanting to come onto this type of program. Also, yes Wonwoo has such a strong vocal I would love to hear how he uses it and what his song choice would look like.

Tbh I'd love Dino or Wonwoo first because they're voices are sooooooo underrated and I'd love to see what they can do.

He's got a really unique tone, and imo he used to not have great knowledge on how best to control it/perform with it in mind, but he's improved so much at controlling his voice and using his tone to his advantage. I LOVE HIS DEEP RANGE, i wish they would incorporate it more frequently as he typically does higher notes in Svt songs for his parts. He actually did a song cover a few years back that i think really demonstrates that deep tone (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu0sQrVXCak). I also was really impressed with his emotional expression in "Lie, Lie, Lie". I wonder if his acting helps him with that or if his tone simply lends itself to it. Also, yes, i've loved seeing Jun get more and more comfortable(?), confident(?) -- he just has seemed to become more self-assured starting this past two years or so here. It's been nice to see. I'm still and will always be crossing my fingers for a DK Lee Mujin service, so I'm hoping he's the next member to try from SVT. I love Lee Mujin service it's such a perfect setting for really understanding an artist's color. Bit of a long comment lol. Thanks for the reaction, as always!
