He should, because there are some very murky waters about Alexandre Fagnus and his relationship with a French bicycle manufacturer turned gun salesman named Amédée Maquaire who apparently bought the patent from Fagnus and later sold a "Modèle d’Officier Perfectionné" ("Improved Officer's Model" - the gun on screen at 13:15 in the video), which is identical to the 1876 Fagnus patent right down to the swing-out sideplate. This is also why this type of revolver was known as a "Maquaire" in French literature until the early 2000s when a researcher found the link back to Fagnus.
I read about it in Gazette des Armes n°425 from November 2010, but there were earlier articles talking about this and I can see why Othias wants to make a whole episode about this mess.

It's spelled "Alexandre Fagnus". I knew about the guy and still it took me a few seconds to realize Othias was talking about him and not someone named "Fanew" I'd never heard of before. I'm not used to Othias getting a French pronunciation right on the first try...

Whenever I hear Othais say, "I need to take a weird detour," I think, "Oh, this is going to be good."

Oh wow, this is a new one.
I thought it was the same revolver and scrolled past it two days in a row. :P

54:30 - Instead "She's a witch," Othias should have said "It's the Clay Witch!"

I think Robert Hawk makes a fair point. For those of us not deep into the minutiae of slugging and pin gauging bores and chambers to get measurements for custom bullet molds, or forming cases not otherwise available, a video about these things might be informative. Unfortunately, You-Tube seems to have conniptions over videos on the construction of ammo, so it may need to be a Patron-Only thing. Also, links to Marks videos on the repairs of your show guns might be good. A lot of what you show represent "prototype" arms that had weaknesses, which after over a century, need attention which may be beyond a lot of folks.

I know the show takes the perspective of the user "back then" when the gun was new, ammo was plentiful, and repair facilities were readily available, but I'd love for Othais to add a few more comments for the modern collector about ease of repair and obtaining/making ammo cause every time I watch an episode I immediately go to Gunbroker to see what these guns sell for and likelihood I can ever find ammo. Sometimes he mentions repair on internals of the gun, but a few tips for buyers (particularly what issues automatically mean we pass on a particular gun) would be helpful. Perhaps he and Mae can make a episode specifically for the collector/shooter and what guns they recommend factoring in parts and ammo availability. I toss that idea out there as a thought (not criticism) cause I love the show and everything y'all do regardless.

For the final release, how about dropping your "faceless gun inventor" graphic along with a spelling of this Al-ek-san-durrrr Fawn-U cat's name? Serious congrats on figuring that out - more proof that you are truly a HISTORIAN, and more than just a regurgitator! (Virtual back pat!)

We need a meme of Othais being mind blown and saying Fagnus over and over!

Othais gets pretty animated about the Fanue patents!

Probably a stupid question, but have you checked with Ian about Fagnus? He has done a bit on at least one Fagnus revolver, and mentioned some different details about the guy, which made me think he had a different information source. Whether they are correct or not, I have no idea.
