That’s a hell of a hunk of metal!

Tim Black

I love this series. I’ve been buying and shooting repro black powder revolvers since the 80’s, so this is my favorite series of yours.

Michael Kinsella

Enjoying alll the programs. Thank you!

Glenn G Webb

You can wear a large brimmed hat, that will cover your gun and ammo while loading...

Guido R.

Love the reprocussion

Michael Bond

I'm very much enjoying Reprocussion and I think the detour into the pocket pistols would be a good next episode. My wallet will be less than happy though, as it continues to remind me how much I want some more cap and ball revolvers.

NekoGhost

...and I always mess that up... 1. Keep the Reproductions up- they are great 2. Black powder makes me really thirsty, and I believe that is a common reaction (so the 1 qt canteen makes me admire the guys biting an d tearing paper cartridges a lot. 3. I don't want Mea shooting at me w/ any of those pistols- reckon I wouldn't be around very long.

Matthew Stanchfield

I have 3 observations:

Matthew Stanchfield

It would have been instructive to know what loads you were shooting. How many grains of black powder or Pyrodex, and the weight of the ball. Muzzle velocity would also have been interesting.

KP Schroer

Great video. Enjoy you content very much. My father got me involved with black powder revolvers when I was a teenager and I love to shoot and collect them today. Reminds me of him every time I pick one up.

Stephen Cochran

In the animation, the projectiles are conical, in the shooting demonstration, they are spherical. Also zip tie? No historically correct string or wire around?

Jun Kumazawa

in re "sustain your disbelief" I thought we WEREN'T gonna talk about politics!? I love this series but must admit that the impulse to buy the repros as you discuss them is straining my miniscule play money budget

Wayne Dygert

Still lacking sufficient cowbell. Love this series, but. Moar please.

Minion

I think you flipped the pix on the single shot pistol, hammer on the left side?

Robert Finley

Could be, but that's also a photo of an original and not one of the reproductions that were featured in the video. Almost certain it's a archival photo of a gun they don't have on hand

Bridger Larsen

So back in 1980 I purchased a walker reproduction. A good friend and I went to the local backwoods underpass to give it a whirl. It was a good 10 feet down to the creek bed so there wasn't any chance of a stray or ricochet. We had both run a couple of cylinders through when we heard from above an order from the local sheriffs deputy to stop, which we very quickly did, laid the piece down and turned to see a pair of deputies with their service revolvers drawn after Identifying us and hearing from us what we were doing, they related that someone was shooting insulators on the power poles. Fortunately we were nowhere near such devices, explained that we were testing out a BP revolver and gave both a minor lesson on how these worked and offered to let them try it out. Sadly they didn't want to try and then went on about their regular rounds. This pretty much ended our day of shooting. It may also be the closest to getting shot by a nervous Deputy.

Bruce Williams

I really do love seeing the history of these old colts. I know the history is highly muddled but I really do appreciate the effort you guys are going through to try and straighten it out after so many years of tampering. It may never be straight again but kinda straight is better than mangled and distorted

Wyatt Haywood

At 27:04, that loading plunger appears to have been installed backward to my eyes. Love this series!

Jon G

Well, thanks for the episode. It looked like Mae had an easier time cocking this piece.

Drizzle

You're right, people forget that the 1850's were a time of a lot of development. Just like the two centuries before the American Revolution get largely glossed over.

Martin Morehouse

I love the Reprocussion series. You guys are awesome!

Bunnysmasher

For the 19th century percussion era more is better. Great job.

George Ambrogio

At 5:22 Schleswig should be pronounced SHLAYS-vig or maybe SHLESS-vig, but not SHLEIS-wig.

Brendan Rose-Silverberg

At 1:14 when you say "sustain your disbelief," I believe you mean "suspend your disbelief."

Brendan Rose-Silverberg

Minor point: at 32:48 you blend your own commentary with a quote. The change in syntax suggests where your commentary ends and the quote begins, but it could be a little clearer.

Leonard Heinz

I could believe that it was "post Civil War" if we were talking about Union armories. The Union had an abundance of arms and handguns were issued mainly to officers and cavalry troops so they didn't need as many pistols.

Michael Baggott

And now Mae knows why Soldiers had to have at least two opposing teeth to be drafted or enlisted in the Army. Gotta be able to bite the end off those paper cartridges. :)

Bruce Williams

Well done, another great installment in a great series.

John Thomas

Good Shooting Mae, Love black power. I was in a civil war reenactment group while in high school, and the first pistol that was actually mine was a colt navy reproduction 36 cal. love that pistol fun to shoot and reasonably accurate.

Charles F Walker

Reprocussion: more please

Red Marley

I kind of like the dragoon. though... I kind of like em all but the petersen maybe. would buy all repros but... laws. so sad. that was good shooting. still a biiiiig chunk of iron huh.

Guido Schriewer

I like Reprocussion, and would not be disappointed if it rolled into comparing the reproduction long guns of the period. The soldiers of the time would have had reasons for preferring, say, the Springfield rifle-musket over an Enfield, but to us at our distance, the seem one and the same. Your deep dives are hugely appreciated!

Erik

No lie…reprocussion is my favorite. Please keep it up!!

Will Lowery

No distinct models, just incremental engineering changes; trying to drag out a few more sales for the "old" design without incurring development costs. Great series of videos; keep the Reprocussion episodes coming! (It is also interesting to see the differences in the "same" models as produced by the different reproduction manufacturers.)

Grant Janzen

Did you mean "post Civil War"? Should it be "during the Civil War"? Just a guess, but given the hunger for anything shootable, I would suspect that the discovery of Dragoons in original packaging would have occurred during the conflict.

Bevin Alexander, Jr.

I love these Reprocussion episodes. The history of Sam Colt's business endeavours is so...well...colourful.

Alembik_1212

I like the Reprocussion series very much. Keep it up.

Jared Dale Abraham

They had zipties back then, they just required a fundamental amount of user awareness; they called them "rawhide thongs" and "basic knowledge of knots," the latter being far more widespread then than now (undoubtedly out of necessity.)

Bruce Brodnax

The zip tie was invented in 1958, just a hundred years shy of the last Dragoon. Shame, they could have been a great selling accessory.

Drew Rebhorn

"Do you like Reprocussion videos?" I literally pay money for them...

Griffen

Such a pretty gun

Leslie Alexander

Ah yeah perfect timing. I may enjoy these more than Primer!
