Reprocussion 004: Colt Dragoon

Comments

Some contemplation of context on the safety "nipple" might be in order. Engaging a safety is not something one typically does in a hurry, but then there was the 1911 design notion of putting the thumb safety on to engage an unruly horse. The Dragoon, however does not automatically cock itself, so it's "safety" might be in (1.) setting the gun up for carry, or (2.) simply shooting out the round in a safe (er) direction if you need to rapidly render the gun semi-inert.

Yes. Perhaps moreso than modern black powders.

Since you are doing repro percussion revolvers, are you considering an episode on the Spiller & Burr? If so, I have a Pietta I can send in to save a few bucks on the production.

Question regarding the flask: you state that the propellant you're using has some issues with humidity (I assume it becomes sticky or binds to itself). Would period black powder have this same issue with humidity?
