Unloaded 54 - Part 2

Othais and Mae share some holiday stories, review 2021 and what's to come in 2022, have a minor argument about what the definition of a zipper is, and more.

Thank you all for the continued support, we hope everyone had a happy holiday season and we hope you have a Merry New Year!

Honestly, as far as the suggestion to record video for the podcast, y'all could just use a GoPro on a gorillapod poerched on the back of a chair. We are a silly audience, and we enjoy your adventures and shenanigans. You don't need to apply your OCD to informal snack tastings/whatever the podcast is supposed to be :-D

"..You could but then you'd be No.. Beard.. Man.. you need the beard." haha!

Drach talk is just a tease...

Merry Christmas and a question: How much did a 1911 cost before WW1 broke out? My Google Fu is too weak to find the information. All I could dig up was 42 dollars for an early 20s commercial gun.

Yep stupid auto correct got me, or maybe stupid me for mistyping in the first place causing it to auto correct in the first place. Honestly I think a couple of tasteful banners at the top, bottom and possibly one on the side of the page would be fine. Maybe an ad within the recommendations page taking up a video recommendation slot. The good news is with an aggregate sit is it wouldn't be hosting the videos so it wouldn't need to raise as much money in adds as an actual hosting site.

"Aggregates" not "agitates." G!D! auto-wrong checker strikes again, I'm sure! 👍 Only downside to your plan is where does the aggregator get their $? Since the whole need to keep the lights on means "getting eyeballs on ads," nobody is going to put up with *another* layer of ads on top of the ones the various YT & equivalent hosts insert to get *their* profits.

I do know a realistic way to break the Youtube monopoly, I just don't have the skills to do it. The big problem is people keep looking at simply making alternative sites, but with social media that simple approach will never work because by it's very nature it essentially forces us to choose one. Picture an alternate world where cellphones could only call other cellphones on the same carrier. Everyone would wind up using one main carrier since that's what everyone else uses, and if you tried using a different carrier you'd not be able to contact the vast majority of people. a majority has to agree to move to one new carrier in a very short time or the attempt to break the big carrier's hold fails. even then your stuck in the same monopoly situation with the new carrier. That's social media's issue, It's why Myspace and Facebook didn't become long term rivals but rather one killed the other. So how do you realistically break the monopoly? Simple, like with cellphones in this reality, you need the equivalent of cross carrier capability. A website the agitates videos from multiple sites for the users. One that creators can pick which video sites are the preferred ones to be shown to their followers though at the same time, followers can pick which site they want to watch the video from. A site that will go here are the recommendations for you from Youtube, for Utreon, for Bitchute, etc... then you can go hey this look recommended video from this platform looks interesting, but I don't want to give that site views so I'll pick the option load the video from this other site the creator loaded it up to as well. The beauty of such a design is that once in place you no longer have a single point in control. There could be 100 different sites that pop up that do that and it doesn't change anything, the creator still gets the same overall number of eyes on their creation, while the followers still get to see all the videos just from a different aggerate site. with such a system actual competition can happen between all the sites.

Keep the podcast going...

no..yeah..no...yeah...no...yeah...you really don't...yes...{insert Mae giggling} This had me rolling!

I used to download the podcasts when I had shared data. Since I went to unlimited I just listen to it out of the Patreon site. Probably no way to track that. Don't stop we love them!

Uhem I would see a point with your plastic gun collection. After all there are places like say japan where one could own like nothing. Or few in other locations. Now the but... Havinh worked injection moulding for a couple of years I am afraid to say the pricy part are the moulds. One would have to be certain to sell the models in the tenth of thousands at least. And that with a lot of models I doubt. With something well known like a mauser mosin or 1911... Maybe. With an oddball sidekick no way. Alas!

Can you see listened vs download here? I listen to the podcast without downloading them
