It's not Bluetooth sync that triggers the location request prompt, it's WiFi access - because if the app can see WiFi SSID names around you, you can cross-reference Google's 'improved location accuracy' data (which uses SSID maps).

Unfortunately I have to agree with you 100% on the tech/advertising digression. The tech market is not in a good place right now. Right now the internet (and everything with a chip because why not) is pretty much a privacy destroying data vac tailored to think it knows you better than you do.

We really do need some sort of digital bill of rights. Internet hygiene is getting downright impossible. The transparency in your advertising is excellent. The platforms are all included in that aforementioned spying issue. The nonsense they get up to is absurd.

Quick change box on it, so it's better than some hobby lathes, but it is strictly hobby fare [only a 3/4" bore, MT3 spindle, which is the same size you get on the 7x12" Chinese lathes from Grizzly, et al. despite it being over 2x the size in all other respects.] It's been in storage for almost 2 decades since I got it; never really had the space & time to set it up & use it; my life went pear-shaped almost immediately after I got it. [NOT THE LATHE'S FAULT! 🤣] I'm almost at the point of being willing to take the $ loss & give it away, but my throwing arm isn't up to the task of throwing a 400# coast to coast pass... Just not as young as I used to be! 😄You making a trip to AZ to visit Ian any time soon? Maybe we could meet up... [Only for you Othais: anyone else pipes up wanting it needs to lay down $1300.]

I've loved switching to vaping since. FYI I loved the smell of pipe tobacco when I was a kid but due to heath issues ie breathing issues I've switched to vape and normally I'm not a vocal patron I'd rather you do what's best and what you have always done. Try Knob Creek Rye, I highly recommend it 😆

Yeah, I hate what Google did with Android, and how everything is connected, there are other ways to connect devices securely, but you have to set up access codes and shit on the other end, that requires a user interface on the device, or an auto-generated factory code you punch in to handshake the first time, then once you are in you change the login to whatever, but no, it wants internet or something.

I am now moving to almost all podcasts, audio books or small channels. I don’t mind an ad at the beginning. Look me in the eye and tell me its an ad. Wpsn does their dumb sportsmans guide guide thing. Its fine, not my favorite but it doesn’t interrupt the middle of the video. But i am just one guy who isn’t a standard media consumer.
