You know what I really liked about this episode? The side-by-side comparison of the RR and the Smith Mo.3 mechanisms. If you made a nicely designed poster of a family tree of revolver mechnism's and what derives from what, I reckon people would buy the shit out it. It could make a great companion to Plate II Revolvers.

Reichsrevolver had two upsides it could be used as a truncheon . Or it could replace a 5lbs sledgehammer for home improvement demolition projects and or drive nails. LoL another fun update one of the worlds instantly obsolete weapons , even before it was issued

To be honest, this monster is only better than a cap and ball revolver because you could theoretically load it while hiding behind a rock.

Nice to know that it beats cap and ball on the would you take it into battle test, although I would be more impressed if it lost. With the inability to tactically reload, I have to ask if it makes a better club or melee weapon than a proper contemporary revolver and if any cap and ball pistol would be ergonomically preferable on the basis of putting six shots on target before ditching the bloody thing.

not like say a 1851navy. national pride "it has to be made in our country" did a whole lot of damage to people whom had to use those and better design option over time. no matter where. again and again,... . usually not to the better. just as idiots in charge to make a call what to buy in what configuration. 30-06 garand instead of 276, has to be in 7,62, oh we go 5,56.. Chief of Ordnance James Ripley....

You can't deny it's elegant though. That was probably why they went that way, national pride and all.

Great episode, thanks. You mention the "teeth/ratchet" are a second removable cylinder, my Cattlemen (Colt 1873 SAA) replica by Ubert has this feature. Is this not an actual feature of 1873's , assumed it was?

When we know we have materially better data we will try to remake episodes. However, we do need to spread that out so it is rare.

This gun looks like it was designed by a committee that believed the lance and sword was the primary weapon.

This has the tell tale marks of an ivory skulled, hard working bureaucrat who never changed his mind. One of those only needs an average committee to create waste; death and defeat.

it will remain a miracle to me why anybody ever came up with a safety lever on a revolver. last thing a SAO in particular ever needs. man that notch of the rear sight looks small. that grip... . horrible ol'boatanchor. rather a SAA73!

It would be interesting to look at contemporary German designs of non-firearms to see if they were clinging to the past/resisting change in those areas as well.

A couple of episodes have already been redone.....French Lebel Mle. 1886 M93 - Episode 001; French Berthier 1892 - Episode 002; and I think German Gewehr 1898 - Episode 005

I suggest the Ruby and all the short episodes from the All 32 channel days. Imagine that tiny little Beholla episode stretched from 17 to 65 minutes. Cue Homer Drool.
