Othais and Mae discuss the buyer's market, Steel Battalion, 3D printing life, Crozier recovery, and more!

Going through the old episodes now, but what you said about shotgun buy-ups around June 2020 was apt because that's where I was. I had a 9mm pistol, but only had a mag of standard FMJ left and couldn't get any more in my area so when I got a stim check I set aside a chunk to buy a long-arm. I was looking at a S&W AR15, but since I knew all the 556 was gone I went for a much cheaper Stevens 320 Security because 12 gauge was still available. Of course buckshot & slugs were gone, but birdshot was still available so I still had something. It was only years went by that I got more 9mm, wasn't shooting my shotgun much that when I had the opportunity to get an AR this past year I sold the shotty and got the AR I wanted in the first place.

I personally like all show ideas y'all come up with, even the ones you say nobody would like so you won't do it

Scott Howrey

I'm going to be honest and say we get a lot of offers for help from people who fundamentally don't understand we have to maintain a repeating schedule. It's the over-and-over part that gets difficult.

C&Rsenal

I'm somewhat surprised that someone close to you hasn't offered use of their private rifle range on demand. I have one and at least 3 of my neighboring farms have ones with proper backstop, etc. I would think that would solve some of your filming constraint issues.

Richard Anderson

I mean, I didn't explicitly trust them as individuals.

C&Rsenal

s'neat. Front sight seems weird though.

C&Rsenal

I will ask her to up her complaining game to my levels.

C&Rsenal

Congrats on the FAL. I've got a bunch of them myself. If I saw a SAR-4800 cheap, I'd jump on it too.

Brian Smith

Maybe people think May is less involved because she doesn’t talk about how busy she is ad nauseam.

Dave Baloga

It's disappointing to hear that other people you trusted, went out and bought guns they knew you wanted, just so you couldn't have them. What kind of twisted person does that? BTW, I love the FAL too. I have one built with a Steyr parts kit.

Josey

:-P

Robin Roberts

That does sorta enter a weird space for us since we don't operate as an FFL.

C&Rsenal

The Bren part confuses me

C&Rsenal

no u

C&Rsenal

I didn't cuff anyone

C&Rsenal

one day

C&Rsenal

You found it!

C&Rsenal

Love the FAL!! I finally got one about 8 years ago and it is great. Plus Mae said SAD!! I almost fell off my work bench!!

Jack Mahan

The bit about people buying things needed for the show and emailing you that you can never borrow them for the show is just for torture. Someone like that needs Jesus.

Jack Ray

I should clarify, the shotgun would be sent to your local gunshop, and transfered through your gunshop as you would do for any other firearm.

PHILLIP DOUBLE U

Thanks guys, as usual the podcast is a fun listen

Coatl

That controller was evil... The Start button triggered the mod chip's reboot feature so I could not to run it form the HDD. Never did get to finish it on account of it, and many of my other video game peripherals getting stolen.

Andrey Gardner

I get the impression that the only way to build up backlog of content (like Ian does) in order to get/have time for "other things" C&R would have to take a hiatus were you don't publish any content. Perhaps 1 month a year where you historically get the least amount of views and/or the worst weather you have to contend with. As a Patron I would not mind.

Arturo Ceron

A "skinny" Othais is fine ... as long as his head size doesn't change =) LOL

Arturo Ceron

Steel Battalion, the game I only heard about a decade after it was gone and have wanted ever since.

Kargush

That doesn't solve the problem.

Robin Roberts

My daughter is 5'7" and her husband is 6 '8" while my son is 6 '2" and his wife is 5 '3". We have our ups and downs so on average we're normal???

Wayne Dygert

All firearms would be transfered with a 4473 to the end owner. You are just paying for it well in advance of actually receiving it.

PHILLIP DOUBLE U

You might have a hard time convincing the atf that doesn't violate straw purchase laws.

Mr. Lee

Being 6'3" and over 220lbs brings a unique viewpoint on ergonomics.

Mr. Lee

Would you consider a a "Sponsor a Shotgun" program? A person could donate $300-$400 for you to buy the shotgun, then after all the shotgun series is complete, you transfer the shotguns out to people who donated.

PHILLIP DOUBLE U

170 megabytes? Someone is a chatterbox.....

Robin Roberts

You brushed over "The Siege of Jadotville"; a great film to play "name that weapon", WW1 style trench warfare against infantry attacks, set in the early 60's so it includes helicopters and ground attack by jet aircraft. Well worth watching and re-watching.

Bruce Stein

I enjoy the off the cuff banter between you two.

Jelle Cautereels

I'd love to see a FAL mini-series especially if you could put something together with DSA to sponsor.

Ryan Nash

Dieudonné Saive, of course.

Ryan Nash

god I'm starting to hate all social media. I'm sorry your hard work is getting suppressed. And no i have seen nothing about a Burgess maybe i wasnt looking lately

Christopher Pettirsch

At 5'8" and 160 lbs there was never much temptation for me to take on a BAR but I take your point

Wayne Dygert

If the opportunity presents I'll have to try one. Gotta admit my Model of 1917 points easily and it's an Enfield ish design

Wayne Dygert

I second that. Having shot both I found even the sights on the fal to be more natural to aim quickly. I love the G3 design, but it's kinda like the BAR: it looks cool, functions reliably but overall it just sucks at being a rifle or a machine gun...

Mr. Lee

Mae if you're looking for recipes and stuff, my favorite cooking channel on youtube is Avi's kosher kitchen. His recipes may not be what you're used to, but I have yet to have a bad meal using them. Only downside is that you have to watch the video and take notes cause he doesn't write his recipes down. Also if you want mine, I'm happy to share my google doc

David Herman

Video now up for Patrons!

moosemaimer

The FAL was designed for human hands.

C&Rsenal

Having shot the M14 (not my favorite, prefer my Garands) and the G3 (very comfy to shoot and very accurate) but not the FAL I'm curious as to what you prefer in it over the G3

Wayne Dygert

You missed out.

C&Rsenal

Ian has already texted me due to this "podcast." It took 6 tries.

C&Rsenal

And YES to the FAL series! (who is my avatar? anybody?)

Alden Skinner

Picturing the Othais ninja sneaking up on Mae...

Alden Skinner

That was THE reason I bought an Xbox, then never got around to actually buying that huge controller
