Friday Review: Time Flies

1. Last time I talked about funding and I think it worried some people.  Presently C&Rsenal is fine and stable.  I would just like to see continued growth because that's a better sign for the future.  Financially, I'd also like enough buffer for the show to eat two big hits IF anything happened.  Say a loaner piece, despite all inspection, fails and we have to replace it or our car just catches fire for no reason.  Best to be prepared so I'm pushing for a buffer so this show doesn't go under by accident.  Nothing is immediately dangerous though.

2. I've had a lot of people ask me about two vectors: advertising and grants.  The problem with both of these is that we discuss a history of firearms without some greater message or finger wagging.  YouTube won't let us direct link places that sell guns.  So no real option to advertise there as pass-through for links is bad enough.  S'rough.

Like it or not, everything is politics these days.  Which means, as a show, we have to be extra careful to remain neutrally footed.  This isn't JUST as a sign of respect to you viewers.  It is 100% necessary to maintain good relationships with any and all museums and private collections.  No one wants to, retroactively, be associated with a cause.

That being said, I, as an individual and not the show, sometimes go on other people's platforms and voice my concerns.  Also, again, if a law comes up that does impact C&Rsenal we will explain it clearly and how it will affect us.

3. Our biggest MG donor came down to visit.  So we pushed a bit to free two days and, subsequently, I keep falling asleep sitting up and not making it to this review.  My apologies.

4. On the shotgun preparation front we have almost "won" our challenge months ahead of time.  I just keep finding pieces tucked away at sub-market prices.  I budgeted some funds post Lightening and we're well ahead of the expected costs.

I am getting pretty excited for this series but there is a lot of work to do.  About half the guns need some form of repair or service.  Many need special ammunition made.  But it's all been much simpler than Primer so far.  My hope is to begin filming in the fall and I will be trying for at least a dozen episodes all in production at once so as to make it more uniform across a "season."

Remember this is going to be a chronological story so it all must be here to start work.  One rare US model remains as does one insanely rare foreign model.  Wish us luck in our game of hide and seek!

5. I've picked up some extra gear to adapt our recording equipment to handle 3 lavaliers in sync.  Why?  Well we're going to start recording commentary tracks for the old Primer episodes and pair them for download on the website.  Should be a fun way to share some inside stories!

Thanks again for all of your support!  I am really hoping by 2020 we can start to bring you more content thanks to your donations!

Please, toss me an email to info@candrsenal.com to remind me of this story! We'll make sure to get her some Crozier stickers at the very least.

C&Rsenal

Possibly but I'm unsure what the conversion rate is. I think it better to position episodes to catch the interested googling. However, those sorts of quick videos won't be something we can take on until early 2020 at the soonest. We're on a "pull ahead" project until then.

My daughter and I were watching the thank you videos together today, she’s 8 and loves Crozier. After, she told me which shirts to order, lol. While doing the order she asked if you had any Crozier shirts, so we had a look, disappointed, she asked me to get a hold of you and ask if you would consider making a Crozier shirt and offer them in kids sizes, she says she would buy one, lol. So yeah, if you guys do make one we’d definitely buy a couple. Thanks again for the great work you guys do.

Recalling how many views a game trailer analysis gained, is it worth doing something similar for Sabaton's 'Fields of Verdun' video?

Gavin Rea-Davies

I think if I shaved I would lose both job and family!

C&Rsenal

We do. Actually Primer to date is fully monetized. Anvil rarely is and most of our "popular" viral mini videos are constantly in flux. Makes it hard to plan.

C&Rsenal

I think we can make it entertaining!

C&Rsenal

Zoom H6 with added xlr head should do it

C&Rsenal

Not impossible but we have to find a way to make the eating of a raspberry fit the plot

C&Rsenal

So far we are exceeding expectations dramatically

C&Rsenal

There definitely is a need to have core information available without polarization.

C&Rsenal

Thank you. When it is ready we will be asking for honest assessments so we can learn from the attempt!

C&Rsenal

Try and see if dollar shave club will pay if you shve

Austin Minder

do you get any revenue off of youtube ads? I'll watch them if they provide any payout. Please advise.

Matthew Gibson

Woo commentary time!

Austin Leeds

Brrr... *3* langoleers in sync! That's a chilling thought... =8-O

Bruce Brodnax

To date everything you've put out has been great. Frankly, getting my history in easily digestible segments without political exhortations suits me just fine although I'm a little jealous of Mae since she actually gets to shoot everything we see AND in a head to head competition would probably out perform me. Ouch! Very much looking to the shotgun segments. Any chance of Crozier-as-Rambo-with-crossed-bandoliers in your next ridiculously appealing bonus segment?

Wayne Dygert

Good luck with your elusive shotguns!

Matteo Manino

Funny... I actually talked about the need for apolitical large guntubers in a response to Yankee Marshall in a video today... And talked about the reasons you brought up.

Milsurp Mike

I'm looking forward to seeing the new series. I have no doubt that it will be every bit as informative and entertaining as the current WW I series has been to date. Your dedication and work is appreciated.
