Updates: Hail Mary

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to squeeze in a machine gun episode.  Some mechanical issues have tied us down just a few days too long to make it happen without my hair falling out.

However, a big part of this is because an opportunity opened to do a collab with another Southeastern channel.  So stay tuned there.

As for the future:  As of right now I have not heard anything back from the  Time Ghost WWII project in terms of licensing help with historical media.  So a C&Rsenal going full WWII is likely not going to happen.

Instead, as we run out of WWI material we'll likely start using Neutral powers to hold out in the inevitable gaps that will develop.  When we've wrung that dry we'll go to a random format, moving up and down history.

Increased my pledge. You shouldn't have to sell your collection for the likes of me. My first love is fur trade guns (Mark likes them too apparently). Hope you cover them someday. There's a museum somewhere (IIRC), about half have rear sights. Don't care if you run long, the war weren't disunclared until 1920 anyways. :-)

None of the printed material has been a big budget boost when set permanently on the site for the price it takes to cover on-demand printing. The big IndieGoGo campaigns, however, are extremely helpful. Shirts in the summer, posters just before Christmas

C&Rsenal

I'm sad to hear about the communication issues between you all and Time Ghost. I hope they reach back out to you shortly as they posted on their Kickstarter recently they should be contacting collaborators. During this WWI work, I have learned a lot from you all and your collaboration with The Great War and, I should note, I do like your long format. During a Paradox Interactive stream, during ParadoxCon, I noticed one of your shirts. When I look at your website now though there does not appear to be any shirts. Will you all be printing some of these soon? Have prints and shirts been profitable?

John Wall

True, but there isn't the huge variety of equipment for that conflict that there was in GW, plus they're fairly modern [meaning we're still using the major small arms and people are already more familiar with them.]

Bruce Brodnax

Othias, I want you to know that I fully appreciate your efforts. The quality and depth of the show is what sets it apart from everything else. The fact that you have produced as much as you have in the amount of time that you have is phenomenal. I am happy to up my contribution because it's worth it and you deserve to not stress about financial concerns whilst also stressing about producing the show.

Vietnam might too attract a number of viewers.

I've seen footage of the battle for Attu, Alaska. It was an amazing battle (the marines won).

P.S. - Did not realize Patreon had changed their pledge system so that it no longer required a discrete pledge level: anyone can go in to edit their pledge & choose "Custom" now; this allows the $2/mo I can afford w/o you actually having to create that option as one of the choices for your patrons. Woot!

Bruce Brodnax

Ooh, he could do a coop episode w/ Bloke OTR. That would be fun! The potential miscommunication alone btw Othais' southern drawl and The Bloke's Brit-speak are endless! X-D

Bruce Brodnax

I know you're busy now, but after the project covering GW arms winds up, have you considered taking a bit of a working vacation & doing some regional fund-raising events for the next stage? Thinking a tour of shooting ranges willing to donate their range fees & a chance to "Shoot (the breeze) w/ Othais & Mae"; I know I'd definitely be willing to schedule a trip to the range if I knew you guys were going to be there [vs. going plinking on public lands.] Just an idea.

Bruce Brodnax

As far as WWII media goes, while it might not satisfy any music tracks, there's going to be a lot of footage that's U.S. govt.-owned in the national archives [ie: is "copyright free" for use by U.S. citizens like you & me...]

Bruce Brodnax

Patreon is all well & good, but for a specific episode/artifact that's holding things up, you should Google "Go Fund Me..." ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

The neutral powers idea is extremely interesting to me. I would love to see your take on the Swiss straight pull series.

Kevin Smith

Or the war of northern aggression

Civil war arms would be awesome

I appreciate it but those deals always get so messy. Best to just let them take auction prices and keep moving.

C&Rsenal

Thank you

C&Rsenal

Very true. A WWII project would take 3x longer to complete.

C&Rsenal

Shirts will be back this summer! The biggest issue is that we never know what is available and when. We get surprised with offers and tend to have to spin up a bunch of supporting operations. Load balancing is.. difficult.

C&Rsenal

The sincere hope is that after WWI we can lower the bar to match the funding. At the moment, however, funding and expenses are almost entirely independent as we have to jump on every opportunity thanks to the fixed list.

C&Rsenal

So, if you feel you need to sell to keep the funding going. I'm certain folks here would be happy to buy parts of your collection now, with the option for you to buy them back in the future. I know I would.

Spencer R

I just doubled my pledge. Relax big guy we aren't going anywhere.

Kelly D West

Bumping you up to $10 for a few months to help out a bit.

Kyle Gilmar

Hey guys, you've got me hooked. If finishing WWI gets put on The backburner I'll just be happy if you guys keep putting out great content

I like the random format better than just a WW2 focus. You can still do interesting WW2 guns, but getting tightly wound up in WW2 for some unspecified time, and again working off another "list" may not be the best for you or the channel. IMO, WW2 guns have been done a lot; WW1 was kind of forgotten about. Doing a random walk might also, I don't know. . . give you a chance to have a life? That is a good thing, by the way...

Bruce Stein

Any chance of additional fund raising? Shirts posters widgets? Also if there is anything outside the usual like, share and sub that I can do as a viewer, just say the word. I know the internet can be unforgiving but I know you have one fan at least that would rather not see you ruin yourself over this. You should really do what makes c&arsenal viable for you. I would rather see you do well and be able to continue into the future. Anyone who can't understand that can stuff it up their nose. I watch for quality of content not because you follow a specific list of guns.

Othias, thank you so much for what you are doing. I am an engineer, a gun nerd and a history buff, you check all my boxes. What ever you do, don't get yourself into financial or personal difficulty over this. If it draws out longer, or you need some sanity time, so be it. I am in awe over what you have accomplished so far.

Nuke Road Warrior

I suspect that project bit off more than it can reliably chew.

C&Rsenal

As for the Time Ghost crew, I'm on their forum and I know for a fact that Indy and Spartacus are pulling their hair out right now just trying to get Between Two Wars done while still making The Great War episodes. (Honestly, I don't know why they decided to bump up WWII by a year) So it doesn't surprise me that you haven't heard back from them yet.
