Another great episode. The penguin demo was inspired! Btw, this is the first episode that deals with a gun I have firsthand experience with. Back in college, a friend of mine bought a Mosin (probably a WWII version). I shot it a couple of times, seemed to shoot pretty well as I recall. Looking forward to the next episode.

Now you have 100K subscribers on YouTube. Congratulatuons!! Why don't you give the one dollar supporters a real perk? Just a thought. That might bring in some real funding.

If everybody who still believes in the 2nd Amendment buys just one share of Google [now "Alphabet"] stock, we could stage an investor revolt at the annual meeting & impress upon the executive boardroom that their NWO b.s. ain't gonna fly if they want to keep their plush pay packages.

Recalling the Britt understatement on the M1870/87 VETTERLI VITALI rifle destined for the Russians "It's a bad rifle,,,,,but better than a stick!" Maybe if your standard rifle is the Mosin, the M1870/87 doesn't look so bad.

I really appreciate your attempt at unbiased assessment and the development background provided by you both is essential in understanding why the Mosin is what it is. I believe the unwieldy bureaucracy of the Imperial Romanov Dynasty had much to do with the end result....plus the humongous size of its illiterate army and just emerging industrial capacity, which made any course correction on par with turning around an aircraft carrier stuck on a mud flat. I can certainly understand why Russia didn't make changes to the Mosin coming out of the Russo-Japanese War, which highlighted many, many deficiencies, of which the rifle was but a minor one by comparison. Also worth noting that the failed revolution of 1905 most likely distracted folks from improving something that was admittedly not optimal.....but still worked.

The Mosin is a serviceable rifle but the highlighted problems put it at a fairly low rating in terms of personal choice or confidence compared to much better designs.
It gets a bad wrap and is hated beyond its limitations for sure though. There is plenty to respect in its design

Hey, I gave it deep respect for refining to minimum parts etc. Just a couple fatal flaws.

Othias : Can't you accept that a rifle that has seen active service for over a whole century in at least 25 countries , has stood the test of time AND has proven itself as a reliable firearm? ASK yourself this : Not would you like to take it into battle , but how would you like to be faced with a guy shooting a Mosin at one Kilometer distance ? If you look on Youtube , there are more than one video of guys who are not super snipers , hitting a 2 foot steel gong at 1000 meters 3 shots out of 5 with Surplus ammo. I would use a Lee Enfield #4

May : I can't help feeling that you are parroting Othias's line about problems with the Mosin. You said yourself, you never had a problem with this rifle in your youth as a shooter AND that it performed well for you.

It's a great rifle, one of my favorites, but It would not fit into the wwi series. The Finnish development on the Mosin began in the mid 20's (m27, m28, m28-30, m39). We will have to wait until the next series, but the history of it's development is fascinating and will make for an excellent C&Rsenal video.

If the Russian's had done what they needed to do with the 91 they would be from Finland; the Model 39 is what the 91 should have been. Great episode. I hope the next episode also covers the 39.
