A part with a hinge built into it is inherently more complex [ie, expensive] & prone to breakage than a rigid, single piece of metal. Colt had the fancy, drop-down folding triggers on his Paterson revolvers: guess what the 1st thing to go was when Sam Walker came to Colt to get the honkin' great horse pistol made that evermore bears his name? ;-)

No trigger guard, which you'll notice on almost all firearms since their inception and virtually all modern firearms to protect the trigger from damage or accidental discharge.
