How we do it.

Well, most of what it is we do to get it done did.
Bernese and Newfoundland! One was a runt intentionally picked out and the other was the neighbors' dog but they had to move out of the country for work.

Who decided to obtain two Bernese Mountain Dogs as the C&Rsenal "shop dogs"? BTW, everyplace needs a "shop dog," except those who have "shop cats."
Also, was the choice of the pooches due to their resemblance to Othais?

I understand the principle of work, but it's worth watching. At least in order to say "It was great"! (◕‿◕)

Hi folks just working my way through your WW1 primer and am learning quite a bit. However I am in the UK so the idea of ever being able to handle these beauties, let alone shoot them is a pipe dream. Now I understand most of the American idioms but Othias what the heck is Marksmanry?????? Is it the same as Marksmanship or Musketry? 😉😈

I think it may speak to the professional presentation of the material as well. How about just a uniform appropriate hat to start off with?...you seem into hats. You could look quite the trench rat with the beard and WW1 garb.

If we had the budget we would have worked up a uniform for Mae from each of the major powers for sure. But indoors... it just felt like unnecessary dressing on top of a difficult program.

I'm not sure what the controversy was but we're happy to have donors. We also have a few mini-tiers that I have a lot of guilt about never quite keeping up with. I have no idea how regular creators do all the extras they offer.

I'm sure you're familiar with the Great War Channel. They have a different focus than you folks but one thing I like is the way the host is sort of in character. You mentioned your clothes in this last video. Why don't you get a WW1 jacket and hat? I've never really seen who wears what in color. All photos I've seen are in B&W. I'm very much interested in that aspect as well...it would also go to lending some more authenticity to your show. ...make it more of show.

Also, I'm pretty sure "being fluffy and cute" is Othais's job; he should tell Tula and Bergmann to back off!

"There's this giant spreadsheet... it's beautiful." Kudos, Othias. This is right up there with "My god, it's full of stars!" for nerd-tastically memorable phrases.
:-D Love the show, keep it coming! PS: thanks Mae for introducing the real stars of the show, Tula & Bergmann. Cute pups! They clearly deserve more screen time... ;-)

Boy did I get scorched by responses on my initial comment defending patron funding. They don't show here, but suffice it to say that the world is fully of ungrateful morons that are a waste of good oxygen. My donation here is my best spent money every month.

Quite an impressive amount of work. In the back of my mind I knew it had to be a lot but actually seeing it makes it seem even more impressive. The end product is definitely worth the few bucks a month I pay.
Thanks!

I will definitely buy your book once it's available. I've been looking for books that cover WWI firearms but, like you said, there aren't any with all of the guns. That's why I love your channel and website because of the wealth of information.
Second, I am curious if Dave has the specs for the guns he did. I have been looking for dimensional renditions of several guns and I resigned myself to having to painstakingly take measurements and create three view drawings or a CAD.
Thirdly, I enjoyed this behind the scenes look. It's amazing the amount of work involved. I try to share your videos anywhere I can in hopes you'll get more Patreon support.
Looking forward to the next 50 episodes.
And don't worry about my support drying up, I'll support the show as long as you're making it.

Let's see if I have this right. You object to providing a carrot to larger contributors that help to make this something other than a charitable exercise for all those that put in hundreds of hours of quality time to bring us these videos. Unless someone in the crew is a trust-fund baby, where is the money to come from??? Taking the amount listed for patrons at face value, it is something less than $5000 a month, which after production costs probably pays out something like $1 an hour for the time invested. Gee, how many of us are willing to invest the equivalent of 2 full time jobs for that type of return??? The basic videos are free, which is a public service as far as I'm concerned. Kicking in a few bucks a month is a nice way of saying thank you for a job well done and to ensure the FREE videos keep coming. Some folks think this is really valuable and kick in a wee bit more....still less than a night's beer tab....and they get a little something extra. What exactly is the problem with that? Be grateful that some folks contribute more so more can be invested in the videos that you enjoy.
