v24.0.0-beta β First 2024 rules beta
Added 2025-10-26 01:25:28 +0000 UTCA day later than promised, but I had some last-minute inspiration for making the Wizard features Spell Mastery and Signature Spell appear on the spell sheets.
...but I did that before properly testing all the new code and ended up spending much more time on testing and debugging all the changes then I had anticipated.
I've also made a beta release for the 5e rules and named it v14.0.0-beta. Hopefully this versioning will help to easily identify which sheet is for which version of D&D: v14 is for 5e (2014) and v24 is for 2024 (5.5e).
I'll probably make another post for the 5e v14.0.0-beta, but it is too late for that today.
This is a beta release, thus only available for Patreon supporters. Please provide feedback if it is not working as expected.

The MPMB website doesn't show this beta yet. I need to rewrite some back-end stuff to get that working properly, so that will have to wait a bit.
You can read the full changelog on GitHub.
1. Rich Text formatting

As discussed in the previous two posts, all multiline fields now support special formatting characters to make stuff **bold**, *italic*, _underlined_, ~strikethrough~, #header 1#, and ##header 2##.
Header 2 is a new addition: italic, bold, and in the theme colour on the Colourful sheets.
Option 3 won in the poll, so while the reference in class features are not made into a header, but the info is.
2. Weapon Masteries

Select weapon masteries using the Choose Feature button on the 2nd page and/or have a weapon display its mastery by adding "(M)" to its name (see the attack changes explanation using the attack line menu).
3. Feats Improved

Feats now support a `type` attribute which are used to group them in the drop-down box, make them selectable as a Fighting Style, and which can be referenced by the new `featsAdd` attribute to show a pop-up dialog to select a feat of the corresponding type (e.g. how the Human allows you to pick another origin feat).
Selecting a fighting style can now be done both as a feat and with the 2nd page Choose Feature button to save feat slots.
Adding a new fighting style is as easy as adding a new feat with `type: "fighting style"`, the sheet does the rest.
4. Starting Equipment

The "Add Equipment" button on the second page now has options for adding the starting equipment from the primary class. Starting equipment can now be added to the 1st page directly.
5. Wizard Cantrips

The spell sheet selection dialog for the wizard now features an optional checkbox to "Treat Cantrips as prepared spells" that, when enabled, adds all Cantrips to the generated spell sheet with check boxes in front to mark which are currently known. Cantrips selected in the spell selection dialog are automatically checked as known.
6. Select Any Background's Trait, Bond, Ideal, or Flaw

As these were removed in the 2024 rules, but the layout of the sheets hasn't changed, I figured why not add all the 2014 options so this part of the sheet doesn't go to waste.
The button now shows all backgrounds that provide a Trait, Bond, Ideal, or Flaw.
7. Add-On Scripts Creating
Various improvements and additions of attributes that can be used with add-on scripts, see the documentation for these.
The new `DefaultEvalsList` allows easy addition of `calcChanges` scripts that should always be active. This is used to automated level-dependent stuff for the Shillelagh, Spare the Dying, and True Strike cantrips, for example.

This Beta is limited in content, as it focuses on new functionality.
Fully updated to the 2024 rules:
Weapons and Ammunition
Armour
Adventuring Gear, Tools, and Packs
Backgrounds and Background Features
Species (races)
Spells, formatted to still fit correctly when converted to metric and/or passed through the `genericSpellDmgEdit` function (18 pages of spells! have a look at the attached Spell Tester pdf if you're interested). Some spells now span multiple lines (e.g. Bigby's Hand), but that can be disabled from the spell sheet generation dialog
Feats from the SRD, and some from the PHB'24, including all Fighting Styles and Epic Boons
Barbarian, Fighter, and Wizard classes and their SRD subclasses
Not included because not finished yet:
Magic Items
Creatures
Bard, Cleric, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Warlock class and their subclasses
Subclasses not in the SRD
Most origin and general feats that are not in the SRD
The pause on billing expires on Monday, October 27 and I currently don't intend to pause for another month. The 2024 sheet is not fully done, because it is still missing a lot of content, but I feel that enough progress has been made to warrant a celebration and me being able to pay my bills again ;)
With the basis of the sheet now finished, it is much easier to focus on the content. I'll try to post more betas weekly as more content is added. Next up: classes and SRD subclasses.
Comments
I assume you saw the post about the new beta. Your question came just a couple of hours to early ;)

2025-12-05 11:30:31 +0000 UTCThank you for reporting any issues. With what sheet was this exactly (type and version number please)? In the Add Equipment menu, there are a lot of options that start with "Both". Which option(s) did fail exactly?

2025-10-30 15:53:48 +0000 UTCWhen populating equipment, choosing Both was not working. Choosing each separately, Background and Class did work as intended for the two characters I made, a Drow elf sage Wizard, and Abyssal tiefling acolyte Barbarian fighter

2025-10-27 19:59:07 +0000 UTCI get where you are coming from, but WotC has never communicated what to call this version, it is all just speculation. I have to disagree with 5.2 being the official/correct version number. Should we also start calling it 5.1e instead of 5e because that is the current SRD version for 5e? The 2024 PHB was out long before SRD 5.2 came around and people had already been calling it edition 5.5 for months, which I'm totally on board with after having lived through both the release of 3e and 3.5e D&D. I think I would only confuse people if I'd now start referring to the 2024 PHB as 5.2e. Heck, I would end up confusing myself.

2025-10-26 14:42:59 +0000 UTCI only spent a little bit of time in the pdf, but so far you did an amazing job. I will continue to check for issues. Thank you for building this awesome PDF for us D&D nerds.

2025-10-26 14:29:06 +0000 UTCFYI: The 2024 rules version number is 5.2, not 5.5 as reinforced by the SRD version number. I defaulted to 5.5 with my database as well, then had to change that value once I found out.
