What would you like to see as Patreon rewards?
Added 2022-03-30 22:53:58 +0000 UTCAs you probably read in my previous post from a couple seconds ago, I'm deleting two of the four tiers for this Patreon. As this leaves me with very few tiers, I would like to introduce some new ones. The thing is, I’m not sure what kind of rewards I can give that people would be interested in.
Thus, I'm asking you to please let me know what you would like to see as a reward for joining this Patreon. You can do that by filling out the poll below and/or leaving a comment, sending an e-mail to mpmb[at]flapkan.com, or joining the discussion on Discord (assuming one happens).
Note that you can select multiple answers, you are not limited to just a single response.

Getting a dark background on the colourful version would indeed require a special PDF for just that, as the images are now made for a white background. You can still replace the background using the same options, but it won't look so pretty. I don't think it will be a very useful feature, because the sheet is primarily intended to be printed and I can already hear the complaints about the print-out using all the black printer ink ;)

Content can be a monthly reward, but which content that will be is to be decided in a later poll by whomever will be part of that tier by then.

Multiple people have reached out to me that they would like to pledge to a higher tier, but none exists because they are all sold out. Also, Patreon has some new features, like tier-specific welcome messages, that I would like to set use, for example. I have just decided that now is a good time to rethink what my Patreon offers/displays. Have it be more in line with the website and (hopefully) clearer for newcomers.

Why not take the time to catch up with the backlog, then, once you're on top of things, you can consider adding another tier, or adding little things to existing tiers if you like. Do we actually need more than 'I want access to the sheet and to occassionaly vote about features'? ;)

2022-03-31 09:44:32 +0000 UTCThese sheets are automated using JavaScript, which is the only thing that Adobe Acrobat uses for their forms. The sheet accepts import scripts to add extra content, like new (sub)classes, races, feats, spells, magic items, weapons, armour, etc. The documentation for adding this stuff is all available on my GitHub, so if you are willing, you can create new content yourself by looking at the documentation. The idea of the reward would be to have a monthly session to help people making custom additions, showcase good practice, or generally show what is possible. Questions about PDF scripting in general would also be possible during something like that.

Its a sheet feature, that once implemented, would be available to everyone. It would also (probably) take even more time and energy than many of the highly requested features. Talk about designer burnout. Oof. If this is a feature you require and think others do too, go to discord vote on it. Because that's where sheet features are discussed and put to MPBP and the community. All that said, I'm just a longtime "Scribe". I've never had an interest in a custom script for some homebrew content. That isnt to say there arent more features that Id love to see. But like 99% of the people who donate here, Im just happy the sheet exists at all. Its SO simple to sit down with a first time player and walk them through character creation using the MPBP sheet and its really easy for them to maintain it. What more could I want? Sure. It would be nice if SOMEONE came up with an app that could generate custom codes for homebrew magic items or spells, but asking Joost to create a custom script for $20 seems like a waste of his time and energy. And, as he has pointed out, he is already months behind in those upper-tier rewards. In my opinion... MPBP should stay at 2 reward tiers for a while and not add more to his already full plate. Take time, to "catch up". Breath a bit. Maybe focus on core features instead of making homebrew and 3rd party scripts. Then again, Im just a long time Scribe (as are over 90% of the people who donate here - going off his Patreon numbers. That isnt to say that anyone donating more isnt of value, but if he is burning himself, doubling his workload, for what about to an extra 20% of revenue, then

2022-03-31 03:15:45 +0000 UTCI agree with being able to import my sheet to roll 20 or fantasy grounds, but since I'm also playing in a pathfinder 1e game, I sure would love a sheet for that (however, I know that would be an enormous amount of work, so I know it just wishful thinking). Most important, though, is that you enjoy your work, so you should make tier focused on doing something you like to do rather than something that is a burden.
