I think it's probably a habit picked up by being a teacher, to check that the audience is following what he's saying and invite questions. He def overuses it but i don't think it signals insecurity, although I'm sure as a black man in academia people have tried to make him feel that way
2023-06-09 21:30:10 +0000 UTCThis is really just a personal pet peeve, but I can't listen anymore to leftists who add "right?" to the end of every sentence when they're speaking with some presumptive authority on a topic. It just signals that they're insecure about what they're saying, and rather than actually making a persuasive argument they're just asking the audience for constant affirmation. Or it's just a nervous tick. Either way, though, it's insufferable and I had to stop listening to the episode after 5 minutes, right?
