This is a super fast update to change v13.0.0beta7 into v13.0.0beta8 and thus I didn't make a separate post.

It seems I made a tiny mistake in the function that regulates updating level in v13.0.0beta7 that caused almost everything to go wrong. Although the issue was small, its impact was big, see here if you want to see what it was.

Thus, I am immediately uploading a new version with this tiny thing fixed. All the other comments from the previous post about v13.0.0beta7 still apply, beta8 only fixes this one issue.

Happy holidays everyone!

Just before the Christmas festivities start (for those of you that celebrate it) I would like to start with a Christmas present in the form of the latest beta, which includes complete Magic Item functionality!

I’m happy to report that the sixth beta had a lot less bugs than the fifth and the ones that were still present have been easy to deal with. Thus it is time for the eighth beta of version 13! This beta doesn’t only fix bugs, but also introduces support for magic items!



Unfortunately, I haven’t found the time to transcribe many magic items to be used with the sheet and there are currently only 4 included.

I know that a lot of people have offered to transcribe magic items and I welcome your help! For now there is no documentation on how to do that, but I will write a comprehensive syntax description after the holidays (so probably starting January 2019).

The part that requires the most work is to get each magic item’s description to fit into the fields and that is something that needs no syntax. Important to note is that the 3rd page of the Printer Friendly(-Redesign) is leading, because that offers the least amount of space for magic items.

Even though beta6 had a lot less glaring problems, it doesn’t mean that there are still niche cases that cause issues. Thus, I'm again asking all of you to try and make your characters with this new seventh beta so that many more bugs can be found.

Again, any feedback will be much appreciated! I genuinely expect this beta still has a couple of weird hidden issues as that is normal after the re-working that went on for beta5 & beta6.



Just like v13.0.0beta6 and the betas before it, this beta can't import a character from one of the previous betas (v13.0.0beta - v13.0.0beta6). This is a precaution, not a bug! This is done because the sheet can't accommodate all the intermediary changes that I had implemented in the other betas without being too convoluted. You will be able to import from v12.999 and older sheets, as well as from another v13.0.0beta7 pdf.



By now an unfortunate recurring theme in these updates to the sheets. Both Avast and AVG are again falsely flagging this new beta as containing a virus. I will again contact both Avast and AVG about these false positives and hopefully they will resolve it. As previous experience has shown, this can take several weeks.

Please do not post or contact me about AVG or Avast finding a virus in this beta until there is reason to believe they have resolved the issue. I will make a post once I get feedback from AVG and/or Avast that the problem has been dealt with. If the false virus warnings continue for you after that, then please do post or contact me about it.

In the meantime you can create an exclusion in AVG/Avast for a folder where you save your character sheets in. Instructions on how to do so are found here for AVG and found here for Avast.

You are also welcome to send feedback to AVG and Avast regarding these files as more feedback means the files will get a higher priority for them to look at.

Seems like some feats arent applying automatically? When I was adding feats they wouldn't add their effects (aka Brawny didnt double carrying weight or give +1 strength in stats popup), not a huge deal because it can be applied manually but it seems to be broken.

I have this issue as well. However, to be more specific, upon adding the race of Tortle, nothing is filled for Armor, and there is no availability to choose 'Natural Armor' as specified in the Racial Traits section. Also to note, it is no longer available for those types of armor types to be chosen, only equippable armors.

Also the wizard spell sheet doesn't have a dialogue to add spells. Just cantrips.

Found a bug: When adding a background, if you have your skills sorted by ability score rather than alphabetically, it adds the skill proficiencies only as if they were sorted alphabetically. For instance, making my background Entertainer populates the Athletics and Perception bubbles rather than Acrobatics and Performance. It looks like it is due to the syntax being "fill in first bubble and thirteenth bubble", rather than "Acrobatics and Performance".

Thank you for your suggestion! I have the entry "make it possible to replace some magic items on the overflow page with an extra attack section" on the wishlist for a long time now. Unfortunately, because of the magic item additions that is v13 I haven't gotten a chance to work on any other (big) features like this. Once v13 is done I'll put it up to a vote what feature should be added next and this one will definitely be on the list of options to vote on!

You can type in anything you want into the character sheet. However, if you want the race to be part of the automation, you can add it by transcribing it into the right JavaScript syntax, making a so-called 'script'. You can then import that script using the "Get Extra Materials" bookmark. I had an idea that I think may be beneficial to add. I always find myself running out of weapon spots because I use a lot of different weapons and cantrips. Would it be possible to add extra weapons as part of an overflow page? Maybe a "change visible sections" button to make it work? I don't know if it's even possible, but it seems like it could be useful. Thanks for all the work you have done making this great sheet!

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas! You are correct about Unarmoured Defense. With me adding the option to use the proficiency bonus I made a mistake and now you always get proficiency bonus added and not the selected ability score. I will fix it in the next beta.

Looks like the Unarmored Defense is not calculating AC correctly. The Barbarian feature states: Unarmored Defense (Barbarian 1, PHB 48) Without armor, my AC is 10 + Dexterity modifier + Constitution modifier + shield. My DEX mod is +3 and my CON mod is +3, but my AC is noted as 15.

The sheet doesn't have a way to disjoin the name of a class and what appears in the class field. The sheet does have multiple ways of detecting a class from the text entered. For example "War Priest" will detect as a "Cleric (War Domain)". That is why there is both a way to select classes using drop-downs and by typing in something. Making the text and the class selection is not possible because that would remove backwards-compatibiliy with older Acrobat versions. Acrobat prior to DC doesn't support the class selection dialog and there everything has to be typed into the class field.

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas! However, I'm unable to reproduce this issue with the latest beta, v13.0.0beta8. The previous beta, v13.0.0beta6 did have this issue, but it was corrected in beta8. Might it be that you are using beta6? If you are using beta8, can you walk me through how to reproduce the issue? Perhaps it matters which weapon you were using, I tested the dagger.

Added a 5th level rogue (leveled it up manually from 1st level to be sure). Sneak attack damage does not update correctly.

I can't seem to rename a class in the "as it appears" section, which I thought was a clever way for a class to be re-skinned as something in game (like Orc Skirmisher being text I flavor for an Orc Champion, etc).

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas! Good catch, I thought I had successfully put all the old armours into the new format, but guess I made a mistake with Mage Armour. It is there, just not being listed in the drop-down box. I'll fix it in the next beta!

As a wizard I am trying to select Mage Armour as an armour type but it is not in the dropdown list. If I type "Mage Armour" it populates the AC fine.

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas! I have found that I also made a mistake with the new function for how feats work, causing none of the feats to apply any changes to anything except their own descriptions. I will fix this for the next beta :)

When a script import file causes an error the Sources dialog will not show up afterwards, unless you opened the import dialog from within the Sources dialog. So that is probably why you didn't return to the Sources dialog.

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas! I hadn't thought about how the new Ravnica background spells would interact with the Mystic. Good thing that you tested it, as I will need to make some changes to make that work correctly. In my reading of the Ravnica rules, the Mystic should not get access to the spells of the background as the Mystic has neither the Spellcasting nor the Pact Magic class feature. I will correct this in the next beta.

Not sure if this was done on purpose, but when Mystic class is selected and a Ravnica Guild Background is chosen, the Mystic Talents no longer show. It brings up a truncated list (only shows a blank and the first 2 spells) of the Ravnica Guild's spells.

As far as I can tell the Mystic works perfectly fine with v13.0.0beta8. Perhaps you forgot to include the UA:TM source in the Source selection dialog and that's why it isn't showing up as an option? Don't forget that all the Unearthed Arcana material is set to be excluded by default to stop the sheet from being to cluttered. You have to manually set the UA content you want to use to be included. And with regards to the import script producing an error, you should know that the ones found through the subreddit are for v12.999 and do not use the new v13 syntax.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking for. In what way do you think those factions should be incorporated? In the drop-down for factions? You should know that you can type anything you want there, you are not limited to the options in the drop-down box (no drop-down box in the PDFs works like that, you can always type anything you want). Or did you mean the Guilds of Waterdeep from Dragon Heist page 13? The reason the limited options are there in the Factions drop-down is because when you select one of them, they affect another part of the sheet. For example, when you select one of the AL factions, the organization symbol is automatically set and the ranks are added to the drop-down for ranks (which is an optional thing to show). The same way the Ravnica Guilds are there, because once selected they add their rank options. The factions from Dragon Heist don't have any rules for ranks as far as I can tell. Thus I think there is no real benefit to adding them to the drop-down other than the very little time saved from typing it in. The problem is, if I would add the Dragon Heist factions, where do I stop? Should there be an all-inclusive list of all possible factions from all the adventure modules, even though there is no automation when selecting them?

Thank you for reporting any issues you find with the betas, even if it is not a new bug! However, this is not really a bug as much as it is a feature that is not available in the sheet. There is no way to add a condition like that where the available spells change depending on the selected spells. Although, now that I think of it the latest changes introduced with beta8 do allow for such a thing, the new calcChanges.spellList attribute. I'll look into how something like that would work for the Thuergy as it is not so straightforward unfortunately. until then, remember that you can select any spells you want using the "Extra Spells" column in the spell selection dialog. That way you don't have to add them manually every time you re-generate the spell sheets.

Did I miss something in the changelog? Mystic is not showing up in the beta8? Has it been removed on purpose? I downloaded The Mystic Class.js 2017/03/13 , it shows in the Current Files window, but does not show on the sheet. I also tried the All Unearthed Arcana 2018/12/30, but it has an error. I was going to see if I could repair it, but it is 1AM and I need to get to bed. Will look tomorrow.

Looks like beta8 has an issue with Unarmoured Defense. It's showing as 14, at level 11, no matter the ability chosen. I think it's taking proficiency bonus incorrectly. Thanks

There was one bug from beta 6 that I dont think was fixed (considering the spellbook got completely borked), if a theurgist gets all their domain spells, they are supposed to be able to add any cleric spell to their spellbook afterwards (one per level up atleast), and none of the other spells showed up when making the spellbook (after getting all domain spells). I just manually added the spells, but i have to remember which I add because they get deleted whenever regenerating a spellsheet. Would be nice to see this changed or tweaked!

I assume this is a bug, or else I just can't find the new method of adding the wizard spells. For now I've just been increasing the "Extra Spells" counter and adding spells from there.

Was there a change in the way that spells are added to the spellbook in beta8? When you create a new wizard, it shows you the 3 cantrip selections, but the 1st level spells are now gone?

Thank you for reporting this so fast. I seem to have made a tiny mistake that caused all level-ups to return an error. I will make beta8 right now to fix this! And FYI if you are going to download all_WotC_published.js from safety oranges GitHub for use with the betas, please use the one in the folder "v13" as those use the features of the new syntax.

Hey man thanks for your work, love the sheet! Getting a weird bug in B7: Clean sheet - Latest Adobe reader on MacOS Mojave - Setting up a feral Tiefling Bladesinger. After adding ability scores, race &amp; background, I then add the bladesinger class (tried at 1 - 3 level) and generate the spell sheet but the dialog only gives me the option to add Cantrips i.e there are no fields present for wizard spells. in addition with the default version of the script built into B7 when adding the Bladesinger class none of the class features got added on page 2. I fixed this however by removing the built-in source script and replacing it with the latest all_WotC_published.js from safety oranges github. Just to say again love the sheet and the work.
