Agreed. I feel like Bad Faith has become long-form Rising.

The fuck? When did I start paying for rising? Hit me up when she responds to her Patrons.

Roflmaocopter

She's been on Rising full time serving c*** for us all, for FREE. You don't deserve the link but someone else might: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLri3HDD8DQvmU8kTqj5vn9Qmszpl2rGU

Tell us what's happening. I want to continue support, but I can't when your platform is a mystery.

Roflmaocopter

Wait why is this two weeks in a row without an episode? Why???

I can’t find the guest recommendations thread, so I came here. Ever since BJG said something to Jonathan about understanding the project of the show, I’ve been trying to work out what the project is, and I still don’t really know, but I still feel like something fruitful would come of talking to the maintenance phase hosts. They’re journalists, and they and their audience are primed to understand that everything they once believed is bullshit. Also I think they’re the archetype of what I guess I’ll call the jimmy dore left hate. Like they think a gay and a fat femme trans ally voted to send $100 billion to Ukraine, and so fuck them. I’m prolly just projecting a lot of stuff but this can still be a good idea.

That was such an asinine thing to say -- I was flabbergasted, too.

I know I’m pulling one teeny line from this conversation, but I can’t get over Matt suggesting there are public classrooms with 13 students (stating we wouldn’t and couldn’t have 25-30+ students taught effectively). Was that accidental or does he really not know the reality of public education k-12? Like I said, a brief moment, but I am kinda stuck on it since it was an example used trying to describe an immovable reality of labor productivity.

Doesn't the debt ceiling need raising by Congress to pay bills it authorized with money it knows we don't have but the executive is charged by the Constitution, defined by Britannica as ". . . the fundamental law of the U.S. federal system of government . . .," to pay? So what law competes with the Constitution? And why is Biden willing to bargain? Especially after he refused? That's some of the discussion I was hoping to hear but Bruenig himself sounded so confused and confusing I couldn't stay.

I was annoyed with that as well. The corporate welfare, inflating the stock market gets little attention. On inflation yes tackle oil and gas prices. I think they should have a public transit fare holiday. Of course USA has bad transit. The only thing about food prices is some of that is affected by drought and floods in corn belt or soy belt which is used as feed not just for America but also the global market.

Matt Bruenig, for all his interesting analysis of other topics, is NOT the person to have on to discuss minting the coin, heterodox economic analysis, inflation, etc. For that you need the heterodox economists who have been right about these things for decades. And I DON'T mean "liberal" economists. They are just neoclassicals economists whose model of a capitalist money-production economy is as wrong as Ptolemy's model of the solar system was wrong. You need non-neoclassical economists.

Bri, I’d really love Yanis Varoufakis back to talk about this. Your last interview with him was so wonderful! Matt is great and I respect his work a lot but he did very little to clear anything up about this issue on this interview :/

This was weirdly not good. People need to separate the pandemic stimulus into 2: corporate welfare and direct assistance to individuals. One was much more necessary than the other. There's an easy way to reduce CPI. If you just go to the BLS website you'll see that oil is a very large components of CPI. Drop the sanctions on oil and gas from Russia! People are buying it anyways. We're paying extra to enrich middlemen in Greece and India. Oil prices trickle through to meat prices through higher feed costs. Let's drop the sanctions on fertilizer from Russia while we're at it. Maybe we need a peace deal so Ukraine can go back to exporting sunflower oil and wheat. The ruling class is effectively sanctioning the working class of the world. Worried about deficits? Cut the military budget! Cut nuclear arsenal maintenance costs (Dept of Energy)! Maybe we should stop funding the occupation of Syria and let them sell their own oil too. It's obviously always been a ruse.

The two-up feels like watching two M.O.D.O.K.s talking to each other xDp

It’s very funny to me that Matt’s camera setup is so close up that, in the two-up, Bri had to zoom her shot more but she couldn’t bring herself to make her own face THAT full screen xDp
