Until they can get their hands on more living humans, he has the luck that understanding his psi shielding is the Loroi's current best chance and restoring their farsight.
It's fascinating, maybe developing willing trust is the only way to get to the insights that will let the Loroi "see through" human psi shielding, and by extension the Umiak's cloning of that ability. Loroi won't win without Farsight, and they probably won't restore Farsight without Jardin's willing cooperation. Their treatment of him will in some senses determine if they deserve to survive. Their initial attempts to take his secrets by force failed. (Minor demerits for trying that first, although it presumably works great with all previously encountered races.)

Hmm, aside from initial shock of this turn of events, it is not too far fetched, Alex already represents a threat to standing propaganda of Loroi dominance in the union. As much as it saddens me I have to agree Alex can't trust anyone.

If it makes you feel any better, I was not pleased with the last two episodes of GoT.

Just don't pull a *insert Game of Thrones spoiler reference here* heel-turn with Beryl on us! She digs that pink-skinned bastard, and we all know it! Not a one of us needs our expectations subverted today!

Ah that would be interesting! It would depend on how close the Historian construct has to be to said device in order to "infect" it. My guess is it is relatively short range, or the loroi would not dare allow them anywhere near their computer systems. At any rate, I am eagerly waiting for the story to keep moving forward!

They may have been inderectly involved. It is possible that this will turn into a sort of spy story where the historian is the spy that literary jumped ship to the Bellarmine in an attempt to avoid capture. A move that sadly lead to Bellarmine's destruction.

I hope the Historian has access to old sensor data from Alex's ship. If it did, it would be able to shed some more light on who attacked the Bellarmine. I really like the Historians, and am really hoping they were not behind it in some way.

Well, I didn't see that coming. O.o Interesting. I happened to see this on the day it came out (which is rare for me - I'm habitually behind on everything...), and now I get to live with the suspense until the next page. :)

Luckily Alex's mind is opaque to telepaths (maybe). Otherwise he can expect to be sentenced to death by snu-snu for his suspicious dealings.

Mmmm... The plot begins to coagulate as a new manipulator appears. Trust no one! :)

Great page, and I am now really interested in what will happen afterwards. I hadn't expected the Historian to flat out state "Don't trust the Loroi", and i also hadn't expected Breyl to walk in on that. Wonder what Alex will do now... As far as he knows the Historians are allies of the Loroi so any "Be wary" statement is likely carry weight. At least compared to, say, an Umiak stating the same.
On a more meta note a few things make me happy as well.
- These frequent updates really help pace the story. Effectively we had four months worth of content this month so far (If i take 1 page a month as the average). Looks like i have to up my "4 pages a month" patreon limit a bit here.
- The patreon donations per page seem to be climbing quite steadily as well. Which brings us ever closer to that o so interesting "1200 a page" goal.
Count me eager to find out the wonders that could happen once we hit that goal.

What a twist! But yes, the Loroi have a reputation for 'hard ladies making hard decisions', and that's not a good thing. But then again the Historians probably aren't your friends either Alex...

A part of me thinks it be much better if she'd walk slowly up to him smiling creepily "what do you have there Alex?" . I'd might just shit a brick if that happened.

Can you imagine, in 10 years we will be complaining about how alex heard the "You've got mail" dingle, went insane, and burned Deinar to the ground. Very disappointing. And to think I named my son Daenalex.
