In which Sean and Andy finally start getting mercenary and talk shit behind the paywall. This week we tackle the blinkered stupidity of last week's 'Starbucks baristas are bourgeois' discourse. Is there even a crumb of meaning that we can glean from this meltdown? Anyways, we had fun with it.

Here's the critique we mentioned by @criticofpolecon

I’d love to hear your take on Settlers, you should definitely do it

In the eyes of capital baristas are "productive" because they generate surplus value

Daedalus was the artificer who built the maze that housed the Minotaur. He helped Theseus slay the monster and end the ritual sacrifice of the children of Athens. As punishment he was placed in the labyrinth with Icarus but escaped on wings of wax. The lesson: that twitter pseud serves the cuck-King Minos and builds mazes to beguile children for sacrifice. If you enter his labyrinthine discourse without the inseverable thread of dialectical materialism to trace your path, you will find yourself a sacrificial feast for his master's creature.

the reward for "proletarian consciousness" is humiliation. it's an understanding of your own objectification through the commodification of your labor power. the hope is that "class consciousness" amounts to people taking up the full humiliation of "proletarian identity" in order to destroy capitalist society itself. but it's important that it registers as a humiliation, otherwise we will never escape capitalism. you can dismiss most people working from the opposite perspective, but certainly Careb Maulpen and friends.
