The Magician's Dialogue~ Week Three

Líros, 13th of Tàlniévis, 1306

I know of seven day week cycles, so I do not think I am surprised by how short it is, but six days? I counted my diary entries up until this point. I thought about adding in dates, but, I didn't always write in my journal every day before I asked about the calendar a week ago. I still have to ask the boys what the date is. Anyway, I am sure you, Diary, are curious about the weather, like I was. Well, the answer is magic. Naturally. Only the mage had interesting things to say on it. It's both an example of weather magic, and artifice magic. Whatever that means. He did take this opportunity to talk to me a bit more. I think he was trying to impress me? Talking about how he's a “martial adept wood mage”. Again. Whatever that means! I did act impressed though, poor guy look like he was struggling talking to a woman. Everyone needs a break! Plus, the other two did not tease him at all about it. Sounds like this title is actually kind of important. But they also don't fall over themselves in front of the mage.

Oh no, his name, I forgot his name! And he told me too! I gotta just ask him tomorrow, hope he won't be mad!

Today was fun! I remembered a game I learned back home, from a friend I made during a school trip: Arm Wrestling! These guys are bulked up, but I'm no pushover! Well, Moska and Yufo are. The mage, whose name is Tenkyero*, or something, refused my challenge. Said his skills were more “academic, cerebral”. Guy is kind of weird.

I beat Yufo in a best 2 out of 3. Took him by surprise at first, but he turned up the steam after that. The third game was brutal. Moska demolished me. Fun! I will get him next time though.

Tenkyo (hope it's obvious who that is. Interloper.) is talking to me more frequently now. About nothing, of course. It is just more pleasantries. But I listen, and give him the time he needs. We are all stuck together on this journey, we need to keep it amicable, but professional!

Well, I am bleeding.

Oh no, I'm not in any danger. It is simply that time of the month. I was a little worried- I don't know what elves- especially elf men- think about periods. Only Tenkyo seemed uncomfortable- ha! Yufo made sure to tell me not to throw away any soiled fabrics. At first I thought it was about littering, but no, predators are about. He does not want us tracked. Moska makes sure I am fine to continue walking, and I say that I am. I guess I can tell you, Diary, that my stomach wants to kill me.

We slept in at my behest. This is barely a mattress upon the meadow grasses, but I still found myself unable to get up. Moska and Yufo kept pestering me to get up, and I do, eventually. Tenkyo tried to get them to let up on me, which is nice, but they were right. We needed to get going.

I didn't really talk with anyone today.

If I am lucky, this should be it. No, no, we are nowhere near our destination. I meant the part about bleeding and the horrible pain in my stomach. I do not think any of the boys even notice. I overhear Moska and Yufo talking about a detour, and rations. Tenkyo tries to speak up, but is shot down. Something about “experience in the field” and “having our roles to play”. I can appreciate that. Some people are simply better suited to certain tasks than others. Still, Tenkyo looked sad, so I went over to spend time with him. He seemed to like that.

Haha! We are now back on track! We're making good progress, and I resumed my sword training! According to Moska, I'm “almost getting the hang of it”. If I were just carrying any old sword, that would mean little to nothing, but because I have this sword, I can probably fend off any wayward beasts that may venture our way. Which is good news, apparently, because we're now in Giant Spider territory.

I think I will try to get some sleep now.
