Onew, real name Jongki, is the leader not Key who's real name is Kibum!

Taemin grew famous so fast when he went solo, and I, myself, fell for Taemin through his solo work in particular for his Japanese releases, which I'm sure is also true for many others! Also, I am not sure I agree with him being the first to go solo as a Kpop artist in an active group because I think GDragon was...but maybe you mean in the context of SM?

One thing that wasn't mentioned was that Taemin was the first K-pop artist to go solo whilst being in an active group. It was unprecedented for that alone, but also because he was a dancer and the style of his solo work was much darker and grittier than SHINee's. He was determined to prove the naysayers wrong, completely exceeded expectations, and became hugely successful as a solo artist. Not only in Korea but also in Japan, his concerts in Japan made him one of the highest-grossing solo artists there, which is wild considering it has the second biggest music industry in the world after the US. Taemin just sold out the Kia Forum in LA without any English songs or any promotion in the West. It's mind-boggling but of course, it is his reputation of nearly 11 years as a solo artist with a clear identity and lots of passion and involvement in his music and image. As you say, he is well respected across K-Pop fandoms, the inspiration for other idols, and he is the reason the younger idols can do solo music right now!
