Early bird: Back To Fax!

Here it is! After about 10 months of setbacks and work, what is I think my biggest overall project and edit; by sheer weight of material and steps taken to get from A to Z!

Video: https://youtu.be/WcJXweIuOo0

In 2023 UK government removed the requirement for phone companies to support facsimile machines, which means we're at risk of losing if not using a great technology that's more secure & robust than email, and works where there's no Internet. Aside from being a bit of fun, the purpose of this video is to raise awareness of technologies we may be about to lose, so that we don't.

To help the cause I've become intrigued by the idea of receiving comments for such a modern medium as YouTube, via such a soon-to-be obsolete and some say archaic technology as fax, right down to getting an old copper wire landline installed.

And to achieve this in the most nostalgic way possible I want to hunt down the exact model fax machine I had as a teen when I worked for Amiga music software company The Blue Ribbon Soundworks, and even do a fax repair on it if needed. Join me and let's go back to fax!

If you've already sent me a fax, there's no obligation to send one again unless you really want to. If you haven't, please feel free to do so! You can use temporary fax services like faxburner.com and I'll be showing the best ones on The ЯRetro Show in the future! Save The Clock Tower! Erm I mean Save The Fax!

Coming up soon I revisit my childhood bedroom C64 recreation project to correct some mistakes, after a large shipment from the UK arrives that is...

Thank you for your ongoing support! 👍🕹️

I respect your persistence with the pcb makeover! It's so satisfying when you finally get there. I'm currently troubleshooting/replacing an Atari 600xl mainboard - not quite there yet, but your video boosted my morale! I especially enjoyed Ladyfractic's nonchalant way of instantly getting how the phone receptacle worked :-) Sending lots of love from Germany!

Lovely video. Sorry to hear about abusive comments. Good to know that it's illegal to send offensive things over the phone network in the US&A.
