Update 2: Call me a Perifectionist if you like (hey I heard that!) but I have improved the voiceover further. For those interested, here's how:
1. I recorded a performance of the voiceover doing my best tribute to the original Wilton Knight actor, the late great Richard Basehart. You can hear my first version again here: https://youtu.be/AtPw7ftWClY
2. Although close to what I wanted, I could still tell it was me at certain points, because no part of Richard Basehart's original performance was used in the recording, at his family's request.
3. I therefore created an Eleven Labs AI voice model based solely on my own performance, including the training keywords, "American middle aged male with deep gravely voice".
4. I fed the script into the AI and generated dozens of recordings, selecting words or syllables to replace only certain parts of my original recording.
5. Though inspired by Richard Basehart's original Knight Rider opening, the end product is 100% my own performance mixed with AI of my own voice, and no part of his original performance or the Universal/Knight Rider TV show recording was used whatsoever.
Update 1: This is kind of an interesting update actually. As part of my process before launching this new trailer publicly, because it features an AI version of actor Richard Basehart who played Wilton Knight, I reached out to his surviving wife and daughter. I asked for their consent, and they extremely graciously and politely expressed that they would prefer not to have it used publicly as they have concerns about AI overall. Of course, I immediately agreed and I respect their wishes. This led to a fun adventure of re-recording the VoiceOver myself, as an impression inspired by Mr Basehart, but using no part of his original performance or any AI. Naturally, it is not as wonderful as his work, but I hope you agree it still conveys the overall impression that the trailer is intended to portray. So there it is, the updated video is above and I hope you like it. Wilton Knight out βοΈ
This one kind of speaks for itself (literally, thanks Richard Basehart aka Wilton Knight; see video description). It was time we had a proper channel trailer again, featuring all sides of the "80s Tech & TV" Retro Recipes has become about (not to mention a hint at a fan fiction possibility), and all wrapped up in a thematic package I know you like. We hope you enjoy it!

For those who missed it way back when, here's the previous and seldom used channel trailer. It has a certain quaint charm to it, but was far too long and I stopped featuring it on the channel homepage fairly quickly: https://youtu.be/nzeyUJCo8OE

In other news, today PCBWay's Elaine & Simon came to visit (Elaine has been my contact there since day one), and we had a really fun time! I was able to film (with Ladyfractic's help on camera) a little tour of the studio including some as yet unseen new stuff, and then we sat down for the Q&A of your questions! I hope to release this in a few weeks once it's edited.
This weekend, along with the new channel trailer, I'll also release the following Shorts, based on a previous video on how to discharge a CRT - but in case you missed it please consider this your double whammy early access!: https://youtube.com/shorts/SvDkkt5g8yk
Believe it or not there's way more than this coming soon, so stay tuned, and thank you for your ongoing support! ππΉοΈ
