Early bird: Why I'm retiring my real Amiga

Here's a new full-length recipode for you to enjoy! I hope you find the video thought provoking and that it is something that will lead to positive outcomes for the community in the future. And of course feel free to let me know what you think about the topic. This video will go public on Saturday so it's yours to enjoy for the week.
Technically I actually found this surprisingly difficult to make. For those interested in the behind-the-scenes, some videos I can mostly make "as it happens" such as exploring THEA500 Mini for a review, where you see me presenting most of the recipode at the device itself.
But other projects are more trial-and-error, and if shooting say 5 hours of footage, I'd never be able to know when something was about to work, in order to know to be presenting to camera at that time. For those projects, it seems necessary to just film the "action", and work out the script later to fit "what actually happened".

I love both formats, but the latter takes so much more time to edit, because of the need to match a clip to every sentence of the script later.
So anyway thank you for giving me the time to sit with this sort of project for a while to hone it to where I wanted it to be.

And thank you for your ongoing support! 👍🕹️

I personally think if it is available to purchase again then it shouldn’t be downloaded free. I’d be interested what others think.
I’m glad you’re enjoying my book! 🙏 -PF

This video got me thinking about emulation and retro software. I don't own any original hardware anymore and mostly retro game via emulation. As a kid gaming on the C64 and Amiga I actually owned mostly originals and did little copying of games between my Commodore gamer friends. I liked to own the boxes and the manuals, maps, tokens, feelies etc... I worked part time starting at age 13 and had cash to spend in my teens, and I spent that money on games. Anyway, these days when I play retro games I end up going out and downloading them from the internet. I own legal Amiga Roms through Cloanto, but the games I fetch are in that grey 'abandonware' area.
Downloading games like that has always been a gray area - for most. The old software was mostly considered abandoned, and preservation is important so people made digital backups and put them out on the internet. etc.... Most of the retro gaming I do is going back to replay the games I owned and to recapture memories from my awesome youth. Once in a while I go and download a game I never officially owned but recall wanting and never played as a kid. Some people say doing so is wrong, but most don't care or think of it as that big of a deal.
So, to get to my point... We are now living in a time when retro games are coming back BIG TIME. Companies like Atari, Sega, Nintendo, and other smaller names out there are releasing licensing rights to companies like Evercade, Retro Games, Arcade 1Up, etc... and the games are being once again officially sold through legal licensing rights.
Considering all that: is going online to download a game to play through emulation, a game that is available once again to legally purchase, say through Evercade, less of a gray area these days and more of a dark area? Is dodgy game acquisition coming back? Has it ever really left?
I bring this up out of curiosity to various point of views people may have on this subject. It has no real direct relation to this video you posted, but it got me thinking. I can see more and more old games coming back being legally licensed and made available.
Side Note: Purchased a print copy of your book a few years ago and only started to recently read it - interesting alien concept.

I'd also recommend looking at AmigaLive.com if you want to play multiplayer Amiga games with people around the world. It uses the FS-UAE emulator as its base and has hundreds of games preconfigured for you. https://www.amigalive.com/. You can also stream from AmigaLive to their automated Twitch channel (where they frequently have tournaments). When they don't have games playing, they have Amiga demoscene, or, Amiga game soundtracks playing. https://www.twitch.tv/amigalive
