"How do you pronounce that??!!!" The teacher yells over an overcrowded classroom. "MAY-SEE! Like the store!" a 5 year old shouts from a desk tucked in the back corner of the room. The entire class turns around shocked to hear such a young voice in a senior high school class. "Whoah, what the fuck are you doing here, kid?" the teacher yells, dismayed. "I mean...eh...hey! Where is your mommy, little girl?" The precocious tot rolls her eyes at this dilettante. "This fool is meant to be my instructor?" she thinks before grabbing her bookbag and heading for the door. She twists the knob to leave but before she does she surveys the room, taking in all the slackjawed American wasteoid faces and starting to seethe on the inside. "Hey, bitch, here's a tip from me to you...frosted tips aren't even IRONICALLY cute after age 30." On the long walk through the locker lined hall all she could think was how broken the education system was. Even if a kid was as equipped and ready to learn as she was, there were precious few places she could go that had the proper funding to offer enriching programs. "Back to school my ass", she thought. She entered the bright, crisp morning and lit up a cigarette. The Uber would be there soon, but until it came, at least she could still trust her American Spirits.
