So first, general project update. You'll have already seen this if you were a Kickstarter backer (in which case just scroll down), but if not, hey!
January Update
Kind of an uneventful month for SkateBIRD in terms of things I can show. I spent a few weeks at the end of December learning Houdini, which will pay off later, but for now just meant I made some silly military plank walls that I slapped into the game for no reason. I also got a batch of new deck art from DJ Skate Co who we're collaborating with on some stuff (we already have some of their merch in-game as birb clothes), and now there's actually-designed-by-a-skate-company boards in the game! THEY'RE SO NEAT! The work on crests paid off, and now cockatiels look right. Most of my work's been less visible. Like we did a ton of planning on the writing, threw out an entire section of the game that wasn't working, and now we're on a much better path. Also spent a bunch of time planning UI stuff, and got the magazine style UI working. We're in the middle months where there's a lot of boring structural stuff I gotta do like that, but if I do the work now, everything will feel immediately better. I need to shove all the placeholder stuff out that's currently sitting between you and the gameplay, and rebuild it to be real (and not crappy).
This was also a month where folks made some cool birb merch available! Gordon Little made vinyl window decals and stickers for sale, and they're pretty neat. I got a few! You can buy them here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/756037464/skatebird-vinyl-decal-sticker.
Also, the artist who did the pins (@emiface) sent those out this month, and she ordered some extras! Which she's selling on her store: https://store.ohmyemi.com/product/skate-bird-official-pin. Pretty sure these will never be available again once they run out, so if you want one, go get it!
January Content / Cool Stuff
Figured I'd mix it up this month. This time, you get UNRELEASED (incomplete) MUSIC! This is an in-progress track, current working title is "Swirl". It'll be something else by launch. Kinda cool!
