Drag-And-Drop Fill A GIANT Array In Unity
Added 2018-02-01 23:48:35 +0000 UTCEver had this problem? You've got this Inspector, with an array object, that you need to assign a ton of something into. In this case, Sprites, but it could be anything - Prefabs, sound files, whatever. Some HUGE number of objects. That you're about to hand-drag-across, one by one.

Well yeah. I did too! Too bad I didn't know how to fix it. I was gonna write a big custom inspector.
Darn, boring update, moving on...
Except my Jr Programmer DID know how to do this! That'd be @stackfireio btw, Kayla. She's awesome. Please follow her. So here's the trick:
1.) Click the little lock icon in the upper right of your Inspector, so that it stays looking at the thing you're dragging into.
2.) Group-select all the stuff you want to drag in. Ctrl-Shift-A in a folder, or drag across a bunch of children objects, or ctrl-select up a specific set, whatever. Bulk select.
3.) Drag to the TITLE OF THE ARRAY. Not inside the array. To the TITLE of it.

... and tada!

In this case, that folder had a ton of files at the end I didn't want, so then I just edited the Size there to 171, which clips off the extra files I didn't want to add.
TADA! Wasn't that easy? Again, please thank Kayla for this.
Also, please tell your friends. I'm just not gonna, because hey, it's a Patreon thingy, y'all should feel special. Now you have SEKRIT KNOWLEDGE you can bequeath unto people. No one will know where you got it from.
Well, we will, but we won't rat you out. Promise.
