Philosophy #26 | Dynamism

I know that 'A Man for All' is a long story. You've made a lot of progress and a lot has happened. When I plotted everything from the beginning, I sequenced the events that happen to make sure everything had as much logic as possible from one scene to the next. I think I've said many times before that everything is connected. Consider every scene in every episode to be one part of a bridge that you're traveling across to get from one destination to another.
Because this game is such a long story, there are a lot of scenes that happen. All of these scenes have some purpose in connecting you to the next scene. This is going to continue until you reach the conclusion. Simple and obvious enough.
But I think that any good story is more than just a series of events you're watching unfold. The characters themselves have to have a journey as well. I'm not talking about a literal journey where they're traveling from one point to another. I'm talking about the journey within themselves.
Look at all of the characters in this game. If you haven't played the beginning in a long time, think back to how they were. Think about your first impressions of them. What were they up to? What were they all about? What kind of personality did they have? Just who exactly were they? Now that you've gotten to know them better, maybe you look at them differently. I'm not talking about hating them and now you like them or vice versa. I'm talking about your perception of them and how it might have changed.
At this point in the story, I think Erika is the obvious example. You meet her in a dark alley. She leads you into fighting. You share a few drinks with her. You go to the strip club. All of these things are events that slowly build and add to her personality. There are also bigger events such as the serious conversations you have about her past or the intimate moments you share if you're pursuing her. Whether or not you like her or your initial opinion of her has changed, there are multiple events that reveal things about her. And the relationships she's developed also change her, even if only slightly.
There's still more story for Erika and the rest of the characters. I'm not just talking about your love interests. Everybody—including you, the MC—are going to go through these changes whether it's through interactions with other characters or the events of the story. The dynamics of every character are important because it makes a story more than just a sequence of events unfolding. The impact of these events on the characters and the interactions that occur are just as important as them happening just to move the story along.
Here's something to consider for the story you've already seen and the updates yet to come. Look at events beyond what's happening. Try to look for the effect of the event on the characters themselves. A trip to Old Town with Vanessa is part of your plan to get more followers on your social media. That's part of the story. But how did that experience affect Vanessa? How did it affect you? How did it affect the other characters like RT Reynolds or Luke? What effect could it have on characters who weren't even there?
Many people agree that dynamic characters are the key to an interesting story. Characters can have the same principles, values, appearance, goals, etc. at the end of the story as they did at the beginning. But there has to be some change that's more than something on the surface. Otherwise, the story has to carry more of the burden itself and can quickly become a series of events with an objective to reach a goal, reaching that goal, and not much else. This isn't going to be just a story of you meeting a girl and at the end, you're dating and that's it.
Every scene and every update is a piece of the bridge. We all want to get to our destination. But there's no harm in taking a moment to stop on that bridge and think about everything you did to put that part of the bridge in place while you're enjoying the view.
There's a lot more to know about these characters. There's a lot more that's going to happen that's going to change them. As I said in previous philosophy post, you get a piece of the puzzle for every character with every interaction.
I enjoy writing this story but I think I enjoy developing these characters even more. There are a lot more conversations for you to have with everybody and a lot more to learn. You're all going to change, for better or worse. By the end of the story, I want you to feel like you've gone on a journey where so much has happened. But my goal is also for you to look back on everything that happened and think about all of the changes you've gone through.
With all philosophy posts, it's hard to articulate exactly what's happening in my head. This is just another long-winded rambling from me in an attempt to try and explain my thought process behind the characters and their internal journey.
For better or worse, have you changed your opinions on any characters? Do you have a better grasp on who they are after so many interactions? Are you frustrated or excited about what you haven't seen yet? Are there any particular scenes or events that stood out to you in terms of character personalities? Have you seen any changes in the characters themselves because of certain scenes? What do you think about the character development overall?
You don't have to answer these questions. These are just the things that I've thought about since the beginning and how I've plotted everything out. I look at the story from every aspect and this is probably the most important one beyond the overall plot itself.
On Episode 13
This episode, along with the next few, are going to be more focused because there's less story to tell in this arc. It's going to be on the shorter side with less overall renders compared to most episodes. At least, it's looking that way, judging by my render count. Having said that, there's no telling how long it'll take to finish everything.
Despite it being a shorter story episode, I'm hoping to put more sex in this episode. Sex scenes take a long time because I have to sync the renders with the animations. There's a lot of posing and moving body parts. I'm always trying to improve the hotness of these scenes because I know that's what we're all here for. I think we all agree that these scenes deserve the proper amount of time and effort, so that's what I'm doing.
The first official progress update should be next week. I think I'll have a decent amount of renders to choose from for previews. As I said, there's going to be plenty of sex in this episode, so we'll see just how much I can get done before the update next week. No timetable on anything but I think I'm doing okay.
If you've any questions or comments, send me a message. Thanks for your support. Take care of yourselves, enjoy the weekend, and I'll talk to you soon.
