Philosophy | The Journey and the End Goal

When I was going over the story and looking at where I'm at, I realized a lot has happened. Story arcs are moving. Relationships are developing. Things are getting more serious in several different ways. I've plotted out the major points of the next few episodes that I want to hit on and I also realized that so much is going to happen. A part of me felt somewhat nostalgic going back to old episodes. Seeing how relationships have evolved and settings have changed made me feel like I've been through an experience even though it's not close to over yet.
I may have mentioned this before somewhere. I went with an episodic format for updates because it would give a nice point to end episodes. It's a nice way to stop and digest everything that happened while also preparing for what happens next. Even though I wrote the story, I like looking back on an episode and enjoying it then asking the same question that most of you ask: "What happens next?"
The other reason I went with an episodic format is because I wanted it to somewhat mimic a television show. We all have our favorite TV shows. Whether they're comedies or dramas or reality TV, the natural progression of a television show allows for more details compared to something like a movie. With a movie, everything is crammed into 90 minutes or so. While still enjoyable, I wanted to do the characters justice like it was done in some of my favorite television shows.
As the story in 'A Man For All' has progressed, you've also gotten a chance to know the characters. I'm not just talking about in a romantic or sexual sense. I mean you get to know all about them. The non-romanceable characters, too. I wanted to give every character some depth relative to how much they appear in the story. There've been some details given out. There are more details yet to come. When you get to the end, whatever feelings you might have toward a character will be because you know all about them.
I know that for many of you, your ultimate goal is to pick a girl (or girls), get married, have a bunch of babies, and live happily ever after. Giving you that ending and making it as satisfying as possible is my number one priority. One of my other goals is for you to look back on the story and enjoy the journey that you've been on. As the old cliché goes, sometimes the journey is as important as the destination.
I'm saying all of this because I feel like there are some of you who might be anxious about having things happen. Specifically, you want your girl and you just want to ride off into the sunset with her. After more than two years in development, it feels like you should be there already. Unfortunately, there's still more journey for you to go. There are still more details to fill in. There is still more business to take care of. And speaking to some of the girls specifically, the end goal for you will be to hook up with them and make things official. So, it won't be happening now or maybe not even soon. But it will happen.
I planned on writing out walls of text on the difference between sex versus love but I think we all understand that at this point. When things happen with the girl you like, I want it to carry some weight to it. And I can only do this by providing details and making the story itself a journey.
All of that being said, with Episode 10, we will be at a big turning point in the story. I can't spoil anything but you'll understand why once you see the things that happen. I should also preface this by saying that not everything happens in the next episode. Aliens don't visit nor do you travel to another dimension to fight demons trying to take over the world. You'll have a clearer picture of what's going to happen over the course of the rest of the story as we head toward the end.
I'm excited about what's up next and what's to come in the future. I appreciate your willingness to come along for the ride, especially to those of you who have been here for so long. Some of you have been here since the beginning and it means a lot to me that you're still enjoying everything. Regardless of how long you've been here, you all mean a lot to me.
The ending of a television show sometimes makes or breaks what people think of it. I know this game won't be any different. I'm well-aware that the longer development goes for this game, the higher the expectations will be. I'm proud of what I've done and what I have planned. We still have a long way to go but I hope that you'll be satisfied because I'm keeping all of you in mind. This is your story. I won't ever forget that.
Episode 10 Progress
There are a few coding things I have to do like making sure choices are saved and you move down the right paths with the code. I have to finish smaller things like writing the credits and putting in the episode recap.
Besides that, everything is written and I've started early edits. Editing includes making sure the code works, typo/grammar, improving dialogue, fixing errors in renders, and making sure the right music and sound effects play. No timetable or release date for anything.
I know you're patiently waiting for the update. I appreciate you all for your support and thank you for supporting me in the meantime between episodes.
If you have any questions, comments, requests or suggestions, send me a message. Thanks again for everything. Take care and I'll talk to you all soon.
